52 25 041 Removing and installing/replacing backrest frame on left or right rear seat

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove LEFT OR RIGHT REAR SEAT 

Unlock and disconnect plug connection (1) on drive unit for seat cushion tilt adjustment.

Lever out clips.

Feed out wiring harness.

Unlock and disconnect plug connection (1) on drive unit for forward/back seat adjustment.

Release screws (1) on left and right.

Remove backrest frame.

Installation note: 

Replace micro-encapsulated screws (1).

Tightening torque 52 25 8AZ .

Replacement only: 

• Remove BACKREST COVER  for rear seat
• Remove CONTROL UNIT
• Remove LUMBAR SUPPORT 
• Remove MASSAGE MAT 
• Remove pump for lumbar and massage
• Remove valve blocks for lumbar and massage. See REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING VALVE BLOCK FOR LUMBAR SUPPORT  and REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING MASSAGE VALVE BLOCK 
• Remove FOUR-BAR LEVER  on rear seat backrest.

Removing wiring harness: 

Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.

Feed wiring harness out of backrest frame.

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Remove connector housing (2).

Lever out all clips and remove wiring harness.
