CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Commission ESP® control unit (N30/3) or Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/10). When replacing hydraulic unit (1).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   IMPORTANT The ESP® control unit (N30/3) or Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/10) is part of the hydraulic unit (1). AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m).    
3 Remove fuse and relay module with housing in engine compartment.   AR54.15-P-0005S
CLEANING Clean     
4 Clean hydraulic unit (1) in area of brake line connections. NOTES
Thoroughly clean area around connecting points before opening hydraulic system.
Otherwise minute particles of dirt in the hydraulic components can result in malfunctions and total failure of the hydraulic system.
IMPORTANT Only use clean, lint free rags and cleaner free of mineral oil.
Do not use any compressed air for cleaning when the brake system is open.
 
    Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
5 Disconnect electrical connection (2). NOTES
It is essential to follow the work instructions for disconnecting the electrical connector (2).
Otherwise the locking mechanism may be damaged.
NOTES
Do not touch, deform or damage contacts of electrical connector (2) and do not allow any foreign objects, soiling or fluids to enter the electrical connector (2).
Otherwise the ESP® control unit (N30/3) or the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/10) may be damaged or malfunction.

6 Mark brake lines (3) relative to corresponding connection on hydraulic unit (1).    
7 Remove brake lines (3) from hydraulic unit (1). NOTES
Seal brake lines (3) and connections on hydraulic unit (1).
Otherwise foreign objects can enter the hydraulic unit (1) and cause damage.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Route the brake lines (3) such that they are free of tension and do not chafe against adjacent parts.
Pay attention to marking.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Retaining screw, brake line to hydraulic unit *BA42.10-P-1001-04R 
    SPECIAL TOOL Box wrench bit Fig 2
    SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
8 Pull hydraulic unit (1) with ESP® control unit (N30/3) or Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/10) upward out of elastomer bearings (4). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that the studs (5) of the holder (6) are correctly seated in the elastomer bearings (4).  
INSPECT Check     
9 Check elastomer bearings (4) for wear and damage. If there is a problem,

Replace elastomer bearing (4).
 
10 Unscrew screw (7) and remove holder (6). When replacing hydraulic unit (1).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, ESP control unit® to Hydraulic unit bracket *BA42.45-P-1002-01R 
11 Install in the reverse order.    
12 Bleed brake system.   AR42.10-P-0010S 
13 Read out and delete fault memory.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
