	Remove/install
1	Commission steering column tube module (SCTM [MRM]) control unit (N80) using diagnostic system.	When replacing steering column tube module (9).
		Remove diagnostic system.	AD00.00-S-2000-04E
2	Remove steering wheel.		AR46.10-S-0100E
3	Remove trim (1) from steering column tube module (9).	Model 447.6/7 Model 448.7	AR68.10-S-1551E
		Model 447.8, 448.8 except code XM7 (MOPF II)	AR68.10-S-1060E
		Model 447.8, 448.8 with code XM7 (MOPF II) Do not remove trim (1) completely.	AR68.10-S-1060EH
4	Remove steering column tube module (9) from steering column tube (2).	Model 447, 448 except code XM7 (MOPF II) The red safety lock (10) on the steering column tube module (SCTM [MRM]) control unit (N80) holds the clock spring contacts in the center position and therefore must not be unlocked when removing and installing the steering column tube module (9). Otherwise, the clock spring contact will be destroyed. Model 447, 448 except code XM7 (MOPF II) To do so, pull steering column tube module (9) rearward out of cutouts (3) and remove steering column tube module (9) from steering column tube (2). Model 447, 448 with code XM7 (MOPF II) To do so, pull steering column tube module (9) rearward and remove steering column tube module (9) from steering column tube (2). Model 447, 448 except code XM7 (MOPF II) Installation:  When the safety springs (4) are in the correct installation position, the assembly indicator (5) is retracted. If steering column tube module (9) is replaced, ↓ the transport protection (6) must be broken off after positioning the steering column tube module (9) on the steering column tube (2).
5	Remove electrical wiring harness at steering column tube module (9).	To do so, remove retaining clip (7). Check retaining clip (7) for damage. If damage is present, ↓ replace retaining clip (7).
6	Remove steering column tube module (9).	To do this, release and disconnect electrical connector (8).	AR54.25-D-2802-02TS

7	Install in the reverse order.
8	Initialize DISTRONIC electric controller unit using diagnostic system.	Model 447, 448 with code BA3 (Active Brake Assist System) Model 447, 448 with code ET4 (Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC) Model 447 with code JP2 (Driving Assistance package) When replacing steering column tube module (9).
		Remove diagnostic system.	AD00.00-S-2000-04E
	Check
9	Perform function check of components in steering column tube module (9).
10	Perform function check of steering column tube module (SCTM [MRM]) control unit (N80).
