Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC. | No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. | Remove/install | |||
| 1 | Disconnect ground line (4) from on-board electrical system battery (G1). | AR54.10-S-0003E | |
| 2 | Unscrew screws (1) and remove bracket (2). | ||
| 3 | Detach vent hose (3) from on-board electrical system battery (G1). | Check that vent hose (3) is correctly seated. Otherwise escaping battery acid mist can cause damage to the vehicle. |

| 4 | Pull on-board electrical system battery (G1) out of guide under right seat base (6) and place onto door sill trim (7). | ||
| 5 | Remove positive terminal cover. | ||
| 6 | Disconnect positive line (5) of on-board electrical system battery (G1). | Before being connected, the positive line (5) must be aligned with the on-board electrical system battery (G1), as shown (arrow). Otherwise a short circuit can be caused through contact of the positive line (5) with the right seat base (6). |
