MODIFICATION NOTES

12.04.2022 Path of XENTRY Portal adapted.

Definition of safety-relevant component parts:

Component parts or systems are safety-relevant when a defect or failure of those parts or systems could result in an immediate danger to life and limb for road users.

Safety-relevant component parts could affect the operational safety of the vehicle.

Possible criteria for safety functions:

Based on these criteria and other aspects to be assessed, it falls within the purview of Development to decide whether systems, component parts or components are classified as potentially safety-relevant and, where applicable, whether they are also classified as safety-relevant in VeDoc. If this is the case, redocumentation is to be conducted based on the possible criteria in VeDoc.

Specifications for redocumentation safety-relevant component parts:

Certain specifications apply for safety-relevant component parts in terms of redocumentation requirements for any replacements made when performing a repair.

In principle, when replacing all components that are listed in VeDoc under the "VPD & serial no." tab, a redocumentation under the above-mentioned tab must always be ensured.

When replacing major assemblies (e.g. engine, transmission etc.), it is absolutely essential to enter the new major assembly identification number in VeDoc under the "Major assemblies" tab.

The document "Update of VeDoc data in After-Sales (redocumentation)" describes the corresponding specifications.

This document can be viewed in XENTRY Portal  in the area "Retail Guide → Products → Maintenance & Repair → VeDoc → Training".
