REMOVING Remove     
1 Open socket flap (21). Model 447 with engine 780.702/705  
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m).    
3 Release socket cover (25) through openings (arrows C) at catch hooks (26) with a suitable tool and remove. Model 447 with engine 780.702/705
NOTES Carefully release socket cover (25).
Damage may occur otherwise.
 
4 Remove trim (2). IMPORTANT To do this, remove expansion rivets (1).
SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover

5 Open quick-release fastener (3).    
6 Unclip the catch hook (arrow A) and remove the left support (4).    
7 Open quick-release fastener (5).    
8 Unclip the catch hook (arrow B) and remove the right support (6).    
9 Remove expansion rivets (7) at left and right fender liner (8). SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Fig 1
10 Remove screw (9) in the left and right fender liner (8).    
11 Open service flap (10) in left and right fender liner (8).    
12 Remove damping (18) on both sides of the vehicle.    
13.1 Remove screws (11) on both sides of the vehicle. Model 447
except code XM0 (Facelift)
except code XM7 (MOPF II)

13.2 Remove screw (20) on both sides of the vehicle. Model 447
with code XM0 (Facelift)

14 Remove expansion rivets (12) at left and right fender liner (8). SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Fig 1
15 Unscrew bolts (13).    
16 Remove front bumper (14) until the electrical plugs (15, 16, 19) are accessible. IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors (15, 16, 19) varies depending on the equipment installed.
Helper required.
 
17 Remove electrical wiring harness (22) from front bumper (14). Model 447 with engine 780.702/705
IMPORTANT To do this, disconnect electrical connectors (23, 24) and remove retaining clamps of electrical wiring harness (22).
IMPORTANT Helper required.
SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover

18 Remove front bumper (14). IMPORTANT To do this, disconnect electrical plugs (15, 16, 19). The number of electrical connectors (15, 16, 19) varies depending on the equipment installed.
Helper required.
 
INSPECT Check     
19 Check all expansion rivets (1, 7, 12) for damage. If damage is present:

Replace damaged expansion rivets (1, 7, 12).
 
INSTALLING Install     
20 Position front bumper (14) on the vehicle and connect electrical plugs (15, 16, 19). IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors (15, 16, 19) varies depending on the equipment installed.
Helper required.
 
21 Install electrical wiring harness (22) at front bumper (14). Model 447 with engine 780.702/705
IMPORTANT To do this, position front bumper (14) on vehicle, install retaining clamps of electrical wiring harness (22), and connect electrical connectors (23, 24).
IMPORTANT Helper required.
Check retaining clamps of electrical wiring harness (22) for damage.
If damage is present:

Replace damaged retaining clamps of electrical wiring harness (22).
 
22 Install front bumper (14). IMPORTANT Helper required.
If lower engine compartment lining is installed:

Insert lower guides of front bumper (14) correctly.
 
23 Install left support (4) and lock catch hook (arrow A).    
24 Close quick-release fastener (3).    
25 Install right support (6) and lock catch hook (arrow B).    
26 Close quick-release fastener (5).    
27 Screw screw (9) into the left and right fender liner (8).    
28 Adjust front bumper (14).   AR88.20-S-2001E 
29.1 Screw in screws (11) on both sides of the vehicle. Model 447
except code XM0 (Facelift)
except code XM7 (MOPF II)

29.2 Screw in screw (20) on both sides of the vehicle. Model 447
with code XM0 (Facelift)

30 Insert damping (18) on both sides of the vehicle.    
31 Close service flap (10) in the left and right fender liner (8).    
32 Install expansion rivets (7) on the left and right fender liner (8).    
33 Install expansion rivets (12) at left and right fender liner (8).    
34 Screw in screws (13).    
35 Install trim (2). IMPORTANT Ensure that cover (2) is seated correctly.
Check expansion rivet (1) for damage.
If damage is present:

Replace respective expansion rivet (1).
 
36 Clip the socket cover (25) into the catch hook (26).    
INSPECT Check     
37 Check function of charger feed socket. Model 447 with engine 780.702/705
IMPORTANT When doing so, also check function of charging interruption button.
 
38 Check function of socket flap lock (21). Model 447 with engine 780.702  
39 Adjust front fog lamps (17). Model 447.6/7 with code L16 (Fog lamps Halogen)

40 Perform function test of the "Active Parking Assist" system. Model 447, 448 with code EZ7 (Active Parking Assist)  
41 Perform function test of the collision warning system radar sensor with diagnostic system. Model 447 with code JA6 (Active Brake Assist System)  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-S-2000-04E
  Calibrate     
42 Calibrate front 360° camera with vehicle diagnosis system. Model 447.8, 448.8 with code JS1 (360° camera (SURROUND VIEW))

43 Calibrate DISTRONIC sensor with diagnostic system. Model 447
with code BA3 (Active Brake Assist System)
with code XM0 (Facelift)
