	Remove/install
1	Remove paneling from left D-pillar (3) and right D-pillar (17)	Model 447.7/8, 448	AR68.30-S-4495E
2	Detach air duct (2) on left side of vehicle on air duct (4) and pivot to side	Model 447.7/8, 448 with code HZ7 (TEMPMATIC semi-automatic air conditioning in rear) Do not remove air duct (2).
3	Remove passages (13) from body (15) on both sides
4	Remove wiring harness (5) from left D-pillar (3) and guide upward out of body (15)	The wiring harness (5) also contains the washing water hose for the rear window. Guide electrical wiring harness (5) to separating point with suitable pull-in aid.
5	Release retainer (12) on tappet (10) with screwdriver (11)	Model 447.8, 448.8 with code W68 (EASY-PACK-tailgate) Carefully lift catch on retainer (12) only until retainer (12) can be detached. Danger of breakage.
6	Remove tappet (10) from tailgate (1)	Model 447.8, 448.8 with code W68 (EASY-PACK-tailgate) Position seal (9) after installing actuation (10).
7	Remove electrical wiring harness (14) from right D-pillar (17) until electrical connectors (16) are accessible	The number of electrical connectors (16) varies depending on the vehicle equipment.
8	Disconnect electrical connectors (16) and remove electrical wiring harness (14) upward from body (15)	The number of electrical connectors (16) varies depending on the vehicle equipment. Guide electrical wiring harness (14) to separating point of electrical connectors (16) using suitable pull-in aid.
9	Remove both gas-filled struts (6) from tailgate (1)		AR72.20-S-2832E
10	Mark assembly position of tailgate (1) in relation to tailgate hinges (7)
11	Unscrew bolts (8) and remove tailgate (1) with aid of helper	Observe markings on assembly position of tailgate (1) in relation to tailgate hinges (7). Repair bolt heads on bolts (8) with suitable touchup paint pen. Bolt, hinge to liftgate	*BA72.20-Z-1002-03KOJ
12	Disassemble tailgate (1)	If necessary.	AR72.20-S-2407E
13	Install in the reverse order
	Check
14	Check gap dimensions on tailgate (1)	Model 447.### ## up to 026646	AR72.20-S-0002E
		Model 447.### ## as of 026647 Model 448	AR72.20-S-0002EA
15	Check electrical consumers on tailgate (1) for proper function
