	Remove/install
1	Remove heat shield.	: Do not install upper Engine cover until after the leak test.	AR09.40-P-6044MNI
2.1	Remove clamp (1) of left catalytic converter (2).	Engine 177.9 in model 290 : Observe alignment of clamp (1). Leaks can occur otherwise. : If a one-piece clamp (1) is installed, install a two-piece clamp (1). Replace screws and nuts in case of two-piece clamp (1).	AR09.40-P-6018-01MNE

4	Remove lower Engine compartment lining.	: Only install lower Engine compartment lining after leak test.	AR61.20-P-1105FRX

6	Remove clip (6).	: Exhaust system must be aligned so that it is free of tension before tightening bolted connections. Otherwise, leaks in exhaust system will occur. : Replace clamp (6). Clamp, front exhaust system to center exhaust system	*BA49.10-P-1005-02E
7	Secure left catalytic converter (2) against falling down.

15	Release left catalytic converter (2) and remove downward.
16	Remove combustion and corrosion residues on flange connections.
17	Check differential pressure lines (14) with hoses for damage.	Engine 177.8 in model 290 with code 961 (Exhaust system with OPF, generation 2.0) Engine 177.9 in model 290 with code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (OPF) with sensor system) If damage is present: ↓ Remove differential pressure lines (14) with hoses at left gasoline particulate filter differential pressure sensor (B163/5) and replace. 18	Install in the reverse order.
19	Check installation position and clearance of left catalytic converter (2).	If problems occur: ↓ Realign left catalytic converter (2).
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when Engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the Engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
20	Perform Engine test run to check exhaust system for leaks.
