	Remove
1	Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).
2	Remove cover above brake fluid expansion reservoir.
3	Clean area around cap on brake fluid expansion reservoir.	Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
4	Remove cap from brake fluid expansion reservoir and extract some brake fluid.	This prevents the expansion reservoir overflowing when the brake piston is pushed back.
5	Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.		AR40.10-P-1102MFA
6	Unhook brake hose from holder (arrow A).
7	Release and disconnect electrical connector (2) of right front brake pad wear sensor (S10/2).	On the right side of the vehicle.
8	Remove screw (3) and place plug housing (4) to one side.	On the right side of the vehicle.
9	Remove lower screw (5).
10	Swivel brake caliper (6) upwards and secure against folding over.
11	Remove brake pads (1) from brake caliper support (7).
12	Remove sliding plates (8).
	Check
13	Check brake pads (1) for wear and condition.

		Model 177 (except 177.051/053/054/151/951) Only brake disks approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed. Replace brake disks as a complete set only. If damage or excessive wear is present, ↓ replace brake disks.	AR42.10-P-0120MFA

15	Check brake caliper (6) with detachable parts for damage.	If there is a problem, ↓ Replace corresponding components.

16	Check brake caliper support (7) and sliding bolts (9) for damage and ease of movement.	If there is a problem, ↓ Replace corresponding components.

	Clean
17	Clean contact surfaces of brake pads (1) on brake caliper (6) and on brake caliper support (7).	Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects. Otherwise, the dust boot, brake caliper (6) or brake caliper support (7) may get damaged. Remove adhesive residue on contact surfaces of brake caliper (6) completely.

18	Push back brake piston.	Resetting device	Fig 2
19	Install sliding plates (8).
20	Install right front brake pad wear sensor (S10/2) into brake pad (1).	On the right side of the vehicle.
21	Insert brake pads (1) into brake caliper support (7).	Insert brake pads (1) diagonally in order to not deform the springs plastically. No brake pastes or lubricants may be applied to the brake pads (1). Only brake pads (1) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed, and only as complete sets.
22	Swivel brake caliper (6) downwards.	Ensure correct routing of the electrical connector (2) of the right front brake pad wear sensor (S10/2).
23	Turn in lower screw (5).	Bolt, guide pin to brake caliper	*BA42.10-P-1002-10ZA
24	Tighten plug housing (4) with screw (3).	On the right side of the vehicle.
25	Connect and lock electrical connector (2) of front right brake pad wear sensor (S10/2).	On the right side of the vehicle.
26	Clip brake hose into holder (arrow A).	Do not twist the brake hose, and make sure that it is routed correctly.
27	Install front wheel and tire assemblies.		AR40.10-P-1102MFA
	Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work.	Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.	AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
28	Operate brake pedal several times until the brake pads (1) make contact with the brake disks.
	Check
29	Check and correct brake fluid level in expansion reservoir.

	Risk of death  caused by limbs being caught or crushed by rotating parts when performing tests on the brake test stand	Never leave the vehicle unattended on the rollers except in an emergency. Ensure that no one is under the vehicle or near rotating parts during testing. In case of emergency, use the EMERGENCY OFF switch to shut down test stand.	AS42.00-Z-0001-01A
30	Perform brake test on test stand.
