	Remove/Install
1	Remove right secondary chain drive timing chain.		AR05.10-P-7614MNA
2	Remove right secondary chain drive tensioning rail.		AR05.10-P-8129MNA
3	Remove right secondary chain drive slide rail.		AR05.10-P-8481MNA
4	Remove both camshafts from cylinder head (1).		AR05.20-P-6992MNA
5	Remove right exhaust manifold.		AR14.10-P-3006MNA
6	Remove fuel line from front cylinder head (1).
7	Loosen cylinder head bolts (2) in stages in reverse order of tightening procedure and remove.	Tightening procedure for cylinder head bolts	AR01.30-P-5800-01MNA
		Tightening specifications for cylinder head bolts Installation:  Observe tightening procedure and tightening specification. Installation:  Replace cylinder head bolts (2).	AR01.30-P-5800-07MNA
		Bolt, cylinder head to crankcase	*BA01.30-P-1001-01N
8	Remove cylinder head (1) from crankcase.
	General information on testing valves, valve seats and valve guides		AH05.30-P-1000-02SZ
		Installation:  Place the new cylinder head gasket on the crankcase. Pay attention to the guide bushing for fixing the cylinder head (1).
9	Remove the alternator bracket and starter wiring harness from the cylinder head (1).	Engine 176 in model 463 up to model year 2019
	Clean
10	Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head (1) and crankcase.	Remove sealant	AR01.00-P-0050-01A
		Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper. This may otherwise cause damage to sealing surfaces and, subsequently, engine and environmental damage.
		Mechanical processing and/or cleaning of sealing surfaces by means of spot grinding with abrasive paper or other abrasive materials to remove sealing residue is not permitted. Even the smallest amounts of corundum and grinding particles as well as wear debris that enter into the engine oil chamber, bearing points, or combustion chambers lead to damage and thus cause engine damage.
		The sealing surfaces must feel even after treatment. The sealing surfaces need not be metallic bright; thin layers of firmly adhering silicone sealant may remain
		Cleaning is permitted only with the approved adhesive and sealant remover

11	Blow out the threaded holes of the cylinder head bolts (2) in the crankcase with compressed air and clean away engine oil and coolant.
	Check
12	Check the sealing surfaces on the cylinder head (1) and the crankcase for cracks and unevenness and replace if necessary.	Installation:  A possible distortion of cylinder head (1) in longitudinal or transverse direction is offset again during reassembly by tightening cylinder head bolts (2). Check relevant sealing surfaces of engine for unevenness, score marks, etc. If unevenness, score marks, etc. are present: ↓ Replace affected component.
13	Install in the reverse order.
14	Change engine oil and oil filter element.

Warning	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure the vehicle against starting by itself. 15	Perform engine test run and check engine and fuel system for leak tightness.
