| Remove/install | |||
| 1 | Remove engine compartment lining from center and front. | AR61.20-P-1105LWE | |
| 2 | Remove left or right front wheel. | AR40.10-P-1102A | |
| 3 | Disconnect electrical connector (10) from left front axle rpm sensor (L6/1) or right front axle rpm sensor (L6/2). | ||
| 4 | Unscrew screw (8) from holder (11) and lay holder (11) to one side. | ||
| 5 | Unscrew nut (2) and remove tie rod (3) from steering knuckle (4). | The ball head must be counterheld and an impact wrench/driver must not be used. Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle (4 will be damaged. |

| 6 | Unscrew nut (5) and remove strut rod (1) from steering knuckle (4). Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths |
The ball head must be counterheld and an impact wrench/driver must not be used. Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle (4 will be damaged. |

| 10 | Check strut rod (1) with sealing bellows, ball head and elastomer bearing for damage. | ||
| 11 | Replace elastomer bearing for caster correction. | If elastomer bearing for caster correction is damaged (bearing core off-center) and the strut rod (1) is to be reused. |
