IMPORTANT Use the following special tools:

SPECIAL TOOL Extraction and insertion tool (01) (222 589 03 43 00)

SPECIAL TOOL Use plate (07) (202 589 04 43 07) for pressing out.

SPECIAL TOOL Use sleeve (03) (221 589 00 43 01) from SPECIAL TOOL extraction and insertion tool set (221 589 00 43 00) for inserting.

Press out elastomer bearing (1b) (A) 

  1. Place suitable shims (08) onto press.
  2. SPECIAL TOOL Place plate (07) with chamfered side facing downwards onto supports (08).
  3. Place strut rod (1a) with chamfered side facing upwards onto SPECIAL TOOL plate (07).
  4. SPECIAL TOOL Place extraction and insertion tool (01) onto elastomer bearing (1b) of strut rod (1a).
  5. Pre-tension press and align strut rod (1a), SPECIAL TOOL plate (07) and SPECIAL TOOL extraction and insertion tool (01) with each other.
  6. Press out elastomer bearing (1b).

    Press-in elastomer bearing (1b) (B) 

  7. SPECIAL TOOL Place sleeve (03) on press.
  8. Place strut rod (1a) on SPECIAL TOOL sleeve (03) with chamfered side facing upward.

    IMPORTANT The cutout of the SPECIAL TOOL sleeve (03) must face towards the bar arrow (N) of the strut rod (1a).

  9. Position new elastomer bearing (1b) with crush ring (1c) on strut rod (1a).

    IMPORTANT The arrow marking (M) on the elastomer bearing (1b) must line up with the recess (2) on the ball head (3).

    IMPORTANT Different elastomer bearing variants are used for a caster change.

    Elastomer bearing (1b) for positive caster change: +3 mm = +27' (C, E).

    Elastomer bearing (1b) for negative caster change: -3 mm = -27' (D, F).

  10. SPECIAL TOOL Place extraction and insertion tool (01) on elastomer bearing (1b).
  11. Pre-tension press and align strut rod (1a), SPECIAL TOOL sleeve (03), elastomer bearing (1b) with crush ring (1c) and SPECIAL TOOL extraction and insertion tool (01) with each other.
  12. Press in elastomer bearing (1b) far enough until the bearing core (4) of the elastomer bearing (1b) makes contact with the SPECIAL TOOL sleeve (03).
  13. Release press and remove crush ring (1c).
  14. Turn over strut rod (1a) and place on SPECIAL TOOL sleeve (03).
  15. SPECIAL TOOL Place extraction and insertion tool (01) on elastomer bearing (1b).
  16. Press elastomer bearing (1b) into center in strut rod (1a).
