Remove/Install Dashboard - AR68.10-P-1000LF

MODIFICATION NOTES

09.03.2020 Remove head unit. Operation step 1.2.  
09.03.2020 Remove left and right potentiometer for air vents. Operation step 3.  
17.03.2020 Special tool inserted. Operation step 19.  
09.03.2020 Remove front passenger airbag. Operation step 26.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1.1 Remove COMAND controller unit. Model 222
up to model year 2018
 
      AR82.85-P-1100LF
1.2 Remove head unit. Model 222
as of model year 2018
 
      AR82.85-P-1101LFM
2 Remove trim element from instrument panel (1).   AR68.10-P-1180LF 
3 Remove left and right potentiometer for air vents.   AR83.10-P-4506LF
4 Remove cover under the left instrument panel (1).   AR68.10-P-1500LF 
5 Remove air ducts under the left and right instrument panel (1).    
6 Remove trims from the A-pillar.   AR68.30-P-4050LF 
7 Remove display module.   AR54.30-P-6023LF
8 Remove steering column module.   AR54.25-P-2802LF
9 Remove side air vents.   AR83.10-P-4740LF
10 Remove speaker (8).    
11 Remove speaker (9). Model 222
with code 811 (High-End sound system)
 
12 Remove screw/bolts (2).    
13 Disconnect cable tie (7). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Install new cable tie (7).  
14 Remove exterior lights switch (S1). IMPORTANT Release switch (S1) from the rear through the opening on the instrument panel (1).  
15 Remove electric parking brake switch (S76/15). IMPORTANT Release switch (S76/15) from the rear through the opening on the instrument panel (1).  
16 Unclip antennas (5) from the instrument panel (1). NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject lines to tension This will result in damage to the lines which may impair their functional capability.
IMPORTANT When removing the instrument panel (1), guide the antenna line of the antennas (5) through the instrument panel (1).
 
17 Release and disconnect electrical connector (10).    
WARNING Risk of injury  during testing and repair operations related to pyrotechnical components Do not expose pyrotechnical component parts to temperatures above 100°C or 212°F.
Disconnect current supply when working on such component parts.

18 Release and disconnect the electrical connections (4).    
  Information, assessment and legal requirements when working with, handling and storing pyrotechnical components IMPORTANTRemoval:  Release and disconnect electrical connectors (4) from the front passenger airbag with the disassembly lever. AH91.00-Z-0000-10A

19 Remove screws (3 pcs.) from the left and right head-up display. Model 222
with code 463 (Head-up display)
 
20 Lift head-up display and release and disconnect electrical connector from the head-up display. Model 222
with code 463 (Head-up display)
IMPORTANT The head-up display remains in the instrument panel (1).
 
21 Carefully remove instrument panel (1) from vehicle. IMPORTANT Model 222.0/1/9
with code 463 (Head-up display)
Lift head-up display slightly when removing.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Ensure that guide pin (3) is seated correctly.
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
 
22 Remove head-up display from the instrument panel (1). Model 222
with code 463 (Head-up display)
When replacing instrument panel (1).

23 Remove front passenger airbag. When replacing instrument panel (1). AR91.60-P-0680LF
24 Install in the reverse order.
