Remove/Install Automatic Transmission Oil Pan - Ar27.10-D-7031TSR

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.

REMOVING Remove 
1 Raise vehicle.   AR00.60-D-1000-04TS
Special instructions for lifting and supporting vehicle   AH00.60-N-0100-01TS
2 Remove lower engine compartment paneling. If installed. AR61.20-D-1105TS
3 Remove underbody paneling. If installed. AR61.30-D-1001TS
4 Thoroughly clean oil pan (4) and surrounding area. NOTES
Cleanliness must be observed at all times when working on the automatic transmission. Otherwise, even the smallest foreign particle in the hydraulic components of the automatic transmission can lead to malfunctions or a total failure of the automatic transmission.
IMPORTANT Use lint-free cleaning cloths when cleaning. Chamois leathers are the most suitable.
Assembly cleaner

5 Drain fluid from transmission.   AR27.00-D-0200-01TS 
NOTES
After releasing the overflow pipe (7), the oil pan (1) must always be removed and the overflow pipe (7) mounted back onto the oil pan (1) again.
Otherwise the transmission may be damaged.
IMPORTANT Drain transmission oil from oil pan (4) only. Collect escaping transmission oil to determine quantity of transmission oil.

6 Remove bolts (2) and remove sprag (6) as well as oil pan (4).    
7 Remove seal (5).    
8 Remove magnets (8) from oil pan (4). IMPORTANT Mark positions of magnets (8).  
9 Remove overflow pipe (3) from oil pan (4).    
CLEANING Clean 
10 Clean sealing surfaces on transmission housing (1). Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
11 Clean oil pan (4). If oil pan (4) is reused. Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
12 Clean overflow pipe (3). Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
13 Clean magnets (8) and insert into oil pan (4). IMPORTANT Note marked positions of magnets (8). Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
INSPECT Check 
14 Check overflow pipe (3) for damage. If overflow pipe (3) is damaged

Replace overflow pipe (3).
 
INSTALLING Install 
15 Mount overflow pipe (3) flush to flange (arrow) on oil pan (4).    
16 Mount seal (5) onto oil pan (4). IMPORTANT Install new seal (5).  
17 Mount oil pan (4) using sprags (6) and bolts (2) onto transmission housing (1).

The sprags (6) are only permitted for use on automatic transmission 722.9 and they may not be mixed up with sprags (6) for other automatic transmission. Otherwise corrosion damage can occur.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, oil pan to transmission housing

18 Fill automatic transmission with oil. IMPORTANT The function and leak tightness of the automatic transmission are checked here. AR27.00-D-0270TSR
