	Remove/install
1	Remove ground line of battery.		AR54.10-D-0029TS
2	Drain off coolant.		AR20.00-D-1142TSR
3	Unscrew screws (1) or exhaust gas recirculation line.	Replace seal.
		Bolt, exhaust gas recirculation line to exhaust gas recirculation bypass flap	*BA14.20-N-1005-01TSV

4	Lower vehicle.
5	Remove the coolant expansion reservoir.		AR20.30-D-4949TS
6	Remove exhaust gas recirculation line at front		AR14.20-D-1063TSV
7	Remove coolant hose (2) from bypass flap of the exhaust gas recirculation (21).	Collect coolant which flows out. Commercially available devices/tools  Collecting pan Check clamps.
		Hose clamp pliers Depending on the findings, ↓ replace the affected clamp.	Fig 1
8	Disconnect electrical connector (3).
9	Disconnect electrical connector (4).
10	Expose electric line (5).

12	Remove vacuum line (8) from diaphragm capsule (9).
13	Remove oil-dipstick guide tube (10) and press it to one side.	To do so, remove screw/bolt (11). M6	*BA00.10-N-1002-01A
14	Remove bracket (12).	To do so, remove screw/bolt (13). Screw/bolt, bracket to cylinder head cover	*BA01.20-N-1004-01O

19	Remove screw (19).	The screw (19) cannot be removed.

20	Unscrew the screw (20) and remove the exhaust gas recirculation (21) upwards.	Before placing the EGR (21), insert the screw (19) into the bores on the flange of the EGR (21).

	Clean
21	Clean the sealing surfaces of the EGR (21).	Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
22	Install in the reverse order.
	Check
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
23	Check for leaktightness when engine is running.	Visual inspection only.
