Remove/Install Front Cover On Cylinder Head - AR01.30-P-5700MRI

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of Engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing Engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill Engine oil into beverage containers.

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove air intake pipe and place to the front with lines connected. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Do not install Engine cover until after the leak test. AR09.10-P-8131MRI
2 Remove air filter housing and place to one side with connected lines.   AR09.10-P-1150MRI
3 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (3).    
4 Unclip electric line (5) and place to one side. SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 3
5 Remove screw of bracket (4) and twist bracket (4) clockwise by 90-1800 . Engine 264 in model 205, 253
with code B01 (48V technology)
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, holder to chain case cover

6 Remove oil filter cover.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Engine 264 in model 205
with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)

7 Remove exhaust camshaft adjustment solenoid (Y49/2). When installing a new front cap (1). AR05.20-P-7306MRI
8 Remove intake camshaft adjustment solenoid (Y49/1). When installing a new front cap (1). AR05.20-P-7305MRI
9 Remove screws (2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, front cover to cylinder head/cylinder head cover *BA01.30-P-1003-01BA 
10 Remove front cap (1) and take out. NOTES
When removing, do not pound in a tool between the front cap (1), cylinder head cover, and cylinder head.
Sealing surfaces will otherwise be damaged.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Apply sealant on the front cap (1).
Sealant, Loctite 5970, 50 ml

    SPECIAL TOOL Application gun Fig 2
CLEAN Clean     
11 Clean sealing surfaces on the front cap (1), cylinder head, and cylinder head cover. NOTES
Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
Sealing surfaces will otherwise be damaged.

    Loctite 7063 (400 ml) cleaning spray *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A 
    Loctite 7200 *BR00.45-Z-1038-04A 
INSPECT Check     
12 Check sealing surfaces on the front cap (1), cylinder head, and cylinder head cover for damage. If damage is present:
↓
Replace corresponding component.

13 Install in the reverse order.    
14 Check and correct Engine oil level.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP18.00-P-1812MKI
WARNING Risk of burn injuries  , suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when Engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the Engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
15 Perform Engine test run. While doing so, check Engine for proper operation and leak tightness.    
16 Install Engine cover.   AR01.10-P-2405MRI
