Replace Shaft Seal On Front Drive Pinion - AR33.30-P-0530SYZ

      AR33.25-P-0300-01LWX 
3 Remove collar nut (4m) and remove adjusting ring (4a) from drive flange (4). NOTES The adjusting ring (4a) determines the bearing preload of the drive pinion, therefore never replace.
Otherwise damage will occur.
NOTES To counterhold, place an SPECIAL TOOL assembly wedge between the breaker bar and the front axle carrier.
Otherwise damage will occur.
IMPORTANT Counterhold SPECIAL TOOL retainer wrench using breaker bar.
Fasten SI retainer wrench on drive flange (4) with only one screw.

4 Mark position of drive flange (4) relative to primary shaft (5).    
5 Pull off drive flange (4). SPECIAL TOOL Puller Fig 7
6 Pry radial shaft sealing ring (2r) out of front axle differential (1) using a suitable tool. NOTES Do not damage seat of radial shaft sealing ring (2r).
Otherwise, the front axle differential (1) will be leaky.		  
7 Remove pinion housing. With VAG 175  
      AR33.30-P-0469SYZ 
    NOTES Absolute cleanliness is essential at all times when working on the front axle differential (1). If this is not ensured, even minute dirt particles can prevent the front axle transmission (1) from functioning correctly.  
8 Check seat of radial shaft sealing ring (2r) for damage and galling. If there is a problem:
↓		  
    Replace front axle differential (1).

9 Fill front axle differential (1) with oil. Model 205, 213 (except 213.088/089/288/289), 238, 253 with transmission 725.0 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) With VAG 160  
      AR33.25-P-0300-01LWX 
    NOTES Absolute cleanliness is essential at all times when working on the front axle differential (1). If this is not observed, even the smallest dirt particle could prevent the front axle transmission (1) from functioning properly or cause damage.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Front axle transmission drain screw *BA33.30-P-1008-03G 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Front axle transmission filling screw *BA33.30-P-1014-03G 
    FLUID SPECIFICATION Hypoid gear oil *BF33.30-P-1001-03F 
    Loctite 7063 (400 ml) cleaning spray *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A 
    Quick-acting adhesive Omnifit 100H (50 g) *BR00.45-Z-1110-02A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Hand pump Fig 2
10 Install pinion housing. With VAG 175  
      AR33.30-P-0469SYZ 
11 Moisten sealing lip of new radial shaft sealing ring (2r) with transmission oil.    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7   BB00.40-P-0235-07A
12 Pound new radial shaft sealing ring (2r) into front axle differential (1) using drift. SPECIAL TOOL Model 204.08/09/28/29/38/90/93/98/99, 207.38
With VAG 160Model 205, 213 (except 213.088/089/288/289), 217, 218, 222, 238, 253 with transmission 725.0 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)

13 Align drive flange (4) with marking on primary shaft (5) and push onto primary shaft (5).    
14 Push adjusting ring (4a) onto primary shaft (5) IMPORTANT The adjusting ring (4a) determines the bearing preload of the drive pinion.  
15 Attach drive flange (4) and tighten new collar nut (4m). NOTES To counterhold, place an SPECIAL TOOL assembly wedge between the breaker bar and the front axle carrier.
Otherwise damage will occur.
IMPORTANT Counterhold SPECIAL TOOL retainer wrench using breaker bar.
Fasten SPECIAL TOOL retainer wrench on drive flange (4) with only one screw.		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Collar bolt/nut, joint flange to drive pinion *BA33.30-P-1003-03G

16 Install propeller shaft onto front axle differential (1). Model 213.061/261, 238.361/461 with engine 256 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR41.10-P-0070MSA

    IMPORTANT Install bottom section of soundproofing or center and rear lower engine compartment lining only after the leak test.  
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
17 Perform engine test run and check front axle differential (1) for leaktightness and proper operation.    
18.1 Install center and rear lower engine compartment lining. Model 204.08, 212.08/28 with engine 272 with transmission 722.96
