Remove/Install Automatic Transmission - AR27.10-P-0005OLH

REMOVING Remove     
1 Move automatic transmission (1) to the neutral position and release the parking brake.    
2 Remove voltage of high-voltage on-board electrical system.   AR54.10-P-1150LVH
3 Disconnect ground line of on-board electrical system battery (G1).   AR54.10-P-0003LW
4 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift.   AR00.60-P-0100CW
5 Remove propeller shaft to front axle differential. Transmission 725.047 in model 253.353/953

6 Remove propeller shaft.   AR41.10-P-0050LWX
7 Remove bolt (2).    
8 Remove equipotential bonding line (3) from automatic transmission (1).    
9 Remove transmission oil lines. Transmission 725.047 in model 253.353/953 with engine 274.9

10 Release and disconnect electrical connector (4).    
11 Remove electric line (5) from automatic transmission (1) and place to one side. SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Fig 8
12 Remove electric line (6) from automatic transmission (1) and place to one side. SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Fig 8
13 Remove screw (7).    
14 Remove ground line (8) from automatic transmission (1). SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Fig 8
15 Release securing clip (9) and remove bayonet coupling (10) from electrohydraulic controller unit.    
16 Seal off bayonet coupling (10) and connection on electrohydraulic controller unit with protective covers. SPECIAL TOOL Set of protective covers Fig 5
17 Remove screw (11, 12).    
18 Remove holder (13) from automatic transmission (1).    
19 Remove screws (14).    
20 Remove starter (M1) from crankcase (16) and secure against falling down.    
21 Support and tie down automatic transmission (1) using major assembly support and mounting plate.

22 Remove rear engine carrier.   AR22.10-P-4360LWB
23 Lower automatic transmission (1) far enough until screw (17) and protection bar (18) are accessible.

24 Remove screw (17) and remove protection bar (18).    
25 Remove screw (19) from 3-phase plug (20). IMPORTANT Screw (19) remains in place on 3-phase plug (20).  
26 Remove screw (21).    
27 Remove cable duct (22) from automatic transmission (1) (arrows). SPECIAL TOOL Clip remover Fig 8
28 Detach 3-phase plug (20) from automatic transmission (1).    
29 Fasten cable duct (22) to vehicle free of tension.    
30 Seal off 3-phase plug (20) and connection on automatic transmission (1) using protective covers. SPECIAL TOOL Set of protective caps Fig 7
31 Remove screws (23).    
32 Place holder (24) with starter wiring harness (25) to one side.    
33 Remove screws (26) around circumference of automatic transmission (1). SPECIAL TOOL Set of flexible head wrenches Fig 2
34 Remove automatic transmission (1) and lower

49 Screw in screw (21).    
50 Position protection bar (18) on automatic transmission (1).

52 Lift automatic transmission (1) further as far as the installation position.

57 Screw in screws (11, 12). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Collar bolt, holder for heat shield to transmission/holder for exhaust system *BA33.30-P-1010-03G 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, transmission to engine *BA27.10-P-1001-04H 
58 Remove protective covers from bayonet coupling (10) and connection on electrohydraulic controller unit. SPECIAL TOOL Set of protective caps Fig 3
59 Attach bayonet coupling (10) to electrohydraulic controller unit and lock securing clip (9).    
60 Attach ground line (8) to automatic transmission (1).    
61 Screw in screw/bolt (7). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, ground line to transmission housing *BA27.10-P-1024-04H 
62 Attach electric line (6) to automatic transmission (1).    
63 Attach electric line (5) to automatic transmission (1).    
64 Connect and lock electrical connector (4).    
65 Install transmission oil lines. Transmission 725.047 in model 253.353/953 with engine 274.9

    IMPORTANT Only install lower engine compartment paneling after a leak test.  
74 Perform adaptation of automatic transmission (1). If automatic transmission (1), the position sensor for the rotor of the electric machine or the electric machine has been replaced.

WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
75 Perform engine test run and check automatic transmission (1) for proper operation and leak tightness.    
76 Install lower engine compartment paneling.   AR61.20-P-1105LW
77 Disconnect vehicle from vehicle lift.   AR00.60-P-0100CW
