Convenience feature (CF), general
The CF function enables central opening and closing of the side windows, panoramic sliding sunroof (with CODE 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof)), sliding roof (with CODE 414 (Sliding roof)), or soft top (Model 205.4).
On vehicles with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO), the side windows, panoramic sliding sunroof, sliding roof, or soft top can only be closed via one of the KEYLESS-GO door handles (Model 205.4).
On vehicles with CODE 401 (Seat climate control for driver and front passenger), the seat ventilation is activated in addition upon opening.
The CF [KFB] comprises the following partial functions:
- Function sequence for comfort opening/closing via transmitter key (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
- Function sequence for comfort opening/closing via air recirculation function (without code (494) USA version)
- Function sequence for comfort closing via KEYLESS-GO (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
Additional function requirements for comfort opening/closing via transmitter key (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
- Circuit 15C OFF
- Doors closed
The electronic ignition lock Control unit transmits the terminal status 15 via the interior CAN. The status of the left front door is sensed by the left front door Control unit, the status of the right front door by the right front door Control unit). On Model 205.0/1/2, 253, the status of the left rear door is detected by the left rear door Control unit and the status of the right rear door by the right rear door Control unit. The information is sent via the interior CAN.
The range for the transmitter key is limited to the Keyless-Go range in the case of the comfort function (bi-directional communication for range limitation, approx. s = 1 m around vehicle).
Function sequence for comfort opening/closing via transmitter key (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
Where the unlock button or lock button is pressed on the transmitter key for a period of t > 2 s, this transmits a radio signal via the rear window antenna and the antenna amplifier FM 1, AM, CL and KEYLESS-GO to the KEYLESS-GO Control unit. The KEYLESS-GO Control unit sends this signal to the electronic ignition lock Control unit via interior CAN. The electronic ignition switch Control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key. If the access authorization code is valid, the electronic ignition lock Control unit transmits it to the KEYLESS-GO Control unit.
The KEYLESS-GO door Control unit transmits the status "Convenience feature status" and "Convenience feature direction" via the interior CAN to the following Control units:
- Left front door Control unit
- Right front door Control unit
- Left rear door Control unit (Model 205.0/1/2.253)
- Right rear door Control unit (Model 205.0/1/2, 253)
- Panoramic sliding roof Control unit
- Sliding roof control module
- Rear Control unit (Model 205.4)
The front door Control units open and close the front windows. On Model 205.0/1/2, 253, the rear door Control units open and close the rear windows.
On Model 205.4, the rear Control unit initiates opening and closing of the soft top and the rear windows.
On vehicles with CODE 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof), the roller sun blinds and the panoramic sliding sunroof are opened and closed by the panoramic sliding sunroof Control unit.
On vehicles with CODE 414 (Sliding roof), the sliding roof is opened and closed by the sliding roof control module.
Model 205, 253 with code 401 (Climatised front seats)
except code 494 (US version)
except code 889 (KEYLESS-GO)
Model 205, 253 with code 401 (Climatised front seats)
with code 889 (KEYLESS-GO)
The seat ventilation is also activated during comfort opening. With version coding it is possible to set whether the seat ventilation is activated for the driver seat only or for both front seats.
Additional function requirements for comfort opening/closing via air recirculation function (except CODE 494 (USA version))
- Terminal 15 ON
- Air-recirculation mode button pressed for t > 1 s (for convenience opening where components are closed)
- Air-recirculation mode button pressed for t > 1.5 s (for convenience closing where components are opened)
The electronic ignition lock Control unit sends the status of circuit 15 On to the climate control Control unit via interior CAN.
Function sequence for comfort opening/closing via air recirculation function (without code (494) USA version)
Actuating the air recirculation mode button for t > 1 s triggers comfort opening when components are closed. Actuating the air recirculation mode button for t > 1.5 s triggers comfort opening when components are closed.
The climate Control unit reads in the status of the air recirculation mode button in the climate Control unit via air control LIN 1 and transmits the signals "Convenience feature status" and "Convenience feature direction" via the interior CAN to the following Control units:
- Left front door Control unit
- Right front door Control unit
- Left rear door Control unit (Model 205.0/1/2.253)
- Right rear door Control unit (Model 205.0/1/2, 253)
- Panoramic sliding roof Control unit
- Sliding roof control module
Before comfort closing the current position of the side windows, panoramic sliding door or sliding roof is stored. During the subsequent comfort opening, these previously stored positions are restored.
Actuation of individual actuators is described in chapter "Comfort opening/closing via transmitter key".
Additional function requirements for comfort closing via KEYLESS-GO (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
- Circuit 15 OFF
- Valid transmitter key is located outside the vehicle and in the vicinity (s = 1 m) of the actuated KEYLESS-GO door handle
- Doors closed and vehicle locked
- Touching the sensor on the outside of one of the KEYLESS-GO door handles for t > 2 s
The electronic ignition lock Control unit sends the status of circuit 15 and the status of the central locking via interior CAN to the KEYLESS-GO Control unit.
Function sequence for comfort closing via KEYLESS-GO (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
Touching a sensor on the outside of one of the KEYLESS-GO door handles for t > 2 s triggers comfort closing.
The KEYLESS-GO door Control unit reads in the signals of the sensor and transmits the signals "Convenience feature status" and "Convenience feature direction" via the interior CAN to the following Control units:
- Left front door Control unit
- Right front door Control unit
- Left rear door Control unit (Model 205.0/1/2.253)
- Right rear door Control unit (Model 205.0/1/2, 253)
- Panoramic sliding sunroof Control unit (with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof))
- Sliding roof control module (with CODE 414 (Sliding roof))
- Rear Control unit (Model 205.4)
Actuation of individual actuators is described in chapter "Comfort opening/closing via transmitter key".
Comfort closing is interrupted in the following cases:
- When another sensor is touched.
- When the sensor is no longer touched.
- After max. t = 90 s
- Another central locking command is present.
If during comfort closeing or max t = 2 s after the same KEYLESS-GO door handle is pulled, the emergency opening function is activated. In this case, the side windows, the panoramic sliding roof or sliding roof are actuated in the opening direction. Actuation is performed for min t = 2 s or as long as the KEYLESS-GO door handle is pulled, max. for t = 90 s.
