1	Remove spark plugs.
		Engine 276.8 in model 205, 253	AP15.10-P-1580D

2	Remove engine air intake duct upstream of air filter.	Engine 274.9 in model 205, 253
3	Remove lower engine compartment paneling.	Engine 177 in model 205	AR61.20-P-1105LW
4	Remove charge air cooler and place to one side with attached coolant lines.	Engine 276.8 in model 205 Engine 276.8 in model 253	AR09.41-P-6819MMV
5	Remove the circulation pump bracket.	Engine 178 in model 190	AR09.41-P-6925MNB
6	Turn engine at center bolt of the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation until the piston o the cylinder to be checked is at bottom dead center (BDC).	Socket wrench bit	Fig 1
7	Connect the endoscope (1) and guide the flexible endoscope through the spark plug bore into the cylinder to be checked.

	General information on inspecting cylinder walls	Engine 274.9 in model 205, 253 If there is 'scoring' (wear to the cylinder), the cylinder barrel has become rough and honing marks are no longer visible.
