Operation step 19

	Remove/install
	Risk of injury  caused by body parts being trapped  or crushed  when working on a partially open Vario roof (in stop mode) or in its closing area as a result of the Vario roof suddenly collapsing	Secure Vario roof with a suitable special tool.	AS77.50-Z-0001-01A
	Notes on Vario roof assembly work		AH77.30-P-0002-01R
1	Remove cross member paneling (1)		AR77.37-P-3500W
2	Position rear shelf main flap (2) upright with Vario roof control switch	Ensure that the rear shelf main flap (2) is in the vertical end position. This is reached when the Vario roof begins to rise from the down position.
3	Break off guide pin (arrows) on right rear shelf mount (3) with suitable side cutting pliers.
4	Remove ball socket 4) on tension/pressure actuation (5) on left and right side flap control arm (6)
5	Mark position of bolt heads (7) on left and right rear shelf mount (3)
6	Unscrew bolts (7) on left and right rear shelf mount (3) and remove rear shelf main flap (2)	:  Ensure that antenna line holder (8) is seated correctly between left rear shelf mount (3) and rear shelf main flap (2). Otherwise the Vario roof can be pinched during operation and damaged. :  Observe position of bolt heads (7) at installation markings.
7	Unscrew bolt (9), remove antenna switchover limit switch (S69/6) and lay down to side with electrical line connected.
8	Unscrew bolts (10, 11)	Spacers are installed at the bolt points. Secure against falling down.
9	Close Vario roof with Vario roof control switch	Ensure that the antenna switchover limit switch (S69/6) and the associated electrical line are not pinched and damaged when the Vario roof is in operation.
10	Remove left side paneling and center paneling in trunk		AR68.30-P-4600W
11	Remove cover (12)
12	Unscrew bolts (15) and remove rear shelf limit switch (S69/4) and lay down to side	:  Ensure that the drive plate (16) of the rear shelf limit switch (S69/4) is arrested with the lever (17).
13	Remove electrical lines (13) from cable tie on rear shelf drive electric motor (M28/18)
14	Disconnect electrical connector (14) from rear shelf drive electric motor (M28/18)
15	Remove screws/bolts (18)
16	Unclip antenna line holder (19) from lever on rear shelf drive and remove rear shelf drive electric motor (M28/18)	:  Ensure that antenna line holder (19) on lever of rear shelf drive. Otherwise the Vario roof can be pinched during operation and damaged.
17	Mark position of bolt heads (20) on left rear shelf mount (3), unscrew bolts (20) and remove rear shelf mount (3)	Only when replacing rear shelf drive electric motor (M28/18). :  Always observe bolts (20), because the position of the left rear shelf mount (3) on the rear shelf drive electric motor (M28/18) is factory adjusted. If this setting is not maintained, the function of rear shelf drive is no longer ensured.
18	Install in the reverse order
