DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A 
WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open hood.   AR88.40-P-1000RG
2 Unscrew cap of brake fluid reservoir and suction off some brake fluid. IMPORTANT This prevents the brake fluid reservoir overflowing when the brake piston is pushed back.  
3 Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.   AR40.10-P-1100RQ
4 Remove brake linings (6).   AR42.10-P-1610RG 
5 Remove screw (9), disconnect electrical connector for brake lining wear sensor (S10/2x1) and remove from brake caliper (1). When removing brake caliper (1) on right side of vehicle.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, brake wear indicator to brake caliper *BA42.10-P-1002-10T 
6 Press back brake pistons with pusher tool. SPECIAL TOOL Resetting device Fig 1
    If the brake pistons are sluggish,

replace brake caliper (1).
 
7 Remove brake hose (10) on brake caliper (1).   AR42.10-P-0013RG 
8 Unscrew screws (7) and remove brake caliper (1). IMPORTANT Replace screws (7).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, fixed brake caliper to wheel carrier *BA42.10-P-1001-10T 
INSPECT Check     
9 Check brake caliper (1) and dust boots of brake pistons for leak tightness and damage. If there is a problem,

replace brake caliper (1).
 
10 Check condition of brake linings (6) and measure degree of wear. If necessary, replace brake linings.  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.10-P-4252A
11 Check brake hose (10) and brake line piece (99) for damage. INSTALLATION NOTES
The brake line piece (99) of the brake hose (10) must not be bent.
A bent brake line piece (99) can lead to functional impairment of the brake system.
 
    If there is a problem,

replace brake hose (10).

CLEAN Clean     
12 Clean contact surfaces of brake linings (6) on brake caliper (1). NOTES
Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects. The dust boots can otherwise be damaged.
 
13 Install in the reverse order.    
INSPECT Check     
14 Bleed brake system.   AR42.10-P-0010RG 
15 Check brake system for leaks.   AR42.10-P-0100-01V 
16 Perform brake test on test stand.
