Remove/Install Soft Top Control Hydraulic Unit - AR77.37-P-3500RGR

WARNING Risk of injury  to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove SAM control unit with fuse and relay module in rear and place to one side with connected electric lines   AR54.21-P-1271RGR
2 Remove AIRSCARF control unit and place to one side with connected electric lines Model 190.4 with code 403 (Airscarf system) AR91.30-P-2006RGR
3 Remove HERMES control unit and place to side with connected electric lines Model 190.4 with code 360 (HERMES UMTS)
Model 190.4 with code 362 (HERMES LTE)

4 Open clamping band (1) and remove tape (8)    
5 Remove hydraulic unit container (2) from soft top crossmember (9)    
6 Remove soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5) from hydraulic unit container (2) NOTES Handle soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5) with care.
Otherwise, hydraulic lines (5) can be damaged.
 
7 Unscrew screws (3) and remove retaining plate (4) NOTES Protect vehicle interior against leaking hydraulic fluid.
Otherwise, the vehicle interior can be contaminated by leaking hydraulic fluid.
 
8 Pull hydraulic lines (5) out of soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5) and close immediately after removal NOTES Hydraulic lines (5) and connections to soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5) must be closed immediately after removal.
Otherwise, the vehicle interior can be soiled with hydraulic fluid that runs out.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 2
9 Open cover (6) and remove    
10 Mark electrical connectors (7) NOTES Risk of mix-up during installation where electrical connectors (7) are not marked.
This results in malfunctions in the hydraulic system.
 
11 Disconnect electrical connectors (7) and remove soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5)    
INSTALLING Install     
12 Connect electrical connectors (7) with soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5) NOTES Ensure that no mix-up occurs for electrical connectors (7).
Otherwise, malfunctions can arise in the hydraulic system.
 
13 Install cover (6)    
14 Remove stop plugs from hydraulic lines (5) and connect hydraulic lines (5) with soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5) NOTES Ensure that rags are laid out in the working area.
Otherwise, vehicle interior may be contaminated during removal of stop plugs.
IMPORTANT Observe marking of hydraulic lines (5).
 
15 Insert retaining plate (4) and tighten screws (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, connection plate to hydraulic unit *BA77.37-P-1002-01A 
16 Insert soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5) in hydraulic unit container (2) NOTES Handle soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5) with care.
Otherwise, hydraulic lines (5) can be damaged.
 
17 Install hydraulic unit container (2) with soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5) IMPORTANT Hydraulic unit container (2) with soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5) must be positioned on soft top crossmember (9) so that emergency operation valve (10) can be accessed through opening (arrow B) in soft top crossmember (9) using an Allen key (SW4).  
18 Check oil level in soft top compartment hydraulic unit (A7/5), correct NOTES Ensure that there are no detached components in area of soft top mechanical components.
Otherwise, soft top or components can be damaged.

19 Equip hydraulic unit container (2) with new tape (8) and close clamping band (1) IMPORTANT Always replace tape (8).  
20 Install HERMES control unit Model 190.4 with code 360 (HERMES UMTS)
Model 190.4 with code 362 (HERMES LTE)

22 Install SAM control unit with fuse and relay module in rear   AR54.21-P-1271RGR
