Remove/Install Crossmember Under Instrument Panel - AR68.10-P-1120RQ

Notice  Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-P-0001-01KOA

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove instrument panel. Model 190 AR68.10-P-1000RG 
    Model 197 AR68.10-P-1000RQ
2 Remove additional fan for instrument cluster. Model 190.### 2# as of model year 2019 AR54.30-P-0003RG
3 Completely remove all electric lines from crossmember (1). IMPORTANT Pay attention to installation position.
SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool		 Fig 1
4 Remove screw (2).    
5 Remove nut (3) and remove left ground line (4).    
6 Remove left front footwell vent outlet air temperature sensor (24) from left footwell air duct (5).    
7 Remove left footwell air duct (5) from air conditioner housing (23) and take out.    
8 Remove expansion rivet (6) and take off COMAND air duct (7). SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 1
9 Disconnect electrical connector (8) and remove electrical wiring harness (10) from air conditioner housing (23).    
10 Disconnect electrical connector (9) from right front footwell vent outlet air temperature sensor (25).    
11 Remove screws (11). IMPORTANT Mark position of screws (11) on crossmember (1).  
12 Remove screws (12).    
13 Unscrew screws (13) and set down steering column tube (14) in footwell. Model 197 AR46.10-P-0400RQ

14 Guide vehicle wiring harness (15) out of crossmember (1).    
15 Remove nut (16).    
16 Remove nut (17) and remove right ground line (18).    
17 Remove screws (19). IMPORTANT Mark position of screws (19) on crossmember (1).  
18 Remove screw (20).    
19 Remove bolts (21).    
20 Remove nuts (22).    
21 Remove crossmember (1). NOTES Carefully remove crossmember (1).
Otherwise the vehicle interior can be damaged.
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.		  
INSTALLING Install     
22 Position crossmember (1) in vehicle. NOTES Carefully position crossmember (1).
Otherwise the vehicle interior can be damaged.
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.		  
23 Position all electric lines on crossmember (1).    
24 Position screws (2, 11, 12, 19, 21).    
25.1 Align crossmember (1) with markings on screws (11, 19). Not when replacing crossmember (1).  
25.2 Center crossmember (1) between A-pillars. Only when replacing crossmember (1).  
26 Tighten screws (11, 19). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, cross member on left and right a-pillar *BA68.10-P-1001-02E 
27 Tighten screws (12). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, upper cross member mount on firewall *BA68.10-P-1006-02E 
28 Tighten screws (21). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, cross member on tunnel *BA68.10-P-1003-02E 
29 Tighten screw/bolt (2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, steering bracket cross member on firewall *BA68.10-P-1004-02E 
30 Position steering column tube (14) on crossmember (1) and tighten screws (13). Model 197 AR46.10-P-0400RQ
    Model 190 AR46.10-P-0400RG
31 Install nuts (16, 22). IMPORTANT Fasten air conditioner housing (23) on crossmember (1) without tension.  
32 Screw in screw (20).    
33 Position right ground line (18) and install nut (17). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 190
Right A-pillar ground point		 *BA00.19-P-1022-01K 
34 Install electrical wiring harness (10) on air conditioner housing (23) and connect electrical connector (8).    
35 Connect electrical connector (9) to right front footwell vent outlet air temperature sensor (25).    
36 Position left ground line (4) and tighten nut (3). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 190
Left A-pillar ground point		 *BA00.19-P-1021-01K 
37 Install COMAND air duct (7) and fasten with expansion rivet (6).    
38 Install left footwell air duct (5) on air conditioner housing (23).    
39 Install left front footwell vent outlet air temperature sensor (24) on left footwell air duct (5).    
40 Check retaining clips of electric lines on crossmember (1). If there is a problem,
↓
Replace retaining clips.		  
41 Fasten electric lines to crossmember (1). IMPORTANT Pay attention to installation position.  
42 Install additional fan for instrument cluster. Model 190.### 2# as of model year 2019 AR54.30-P-0003RG
43 Install instrument panel. Model 197 AR68.10-P-1000RQ
    Model 190 AR68.10-P-1000RG
