1.1	Remove center engine compartment paneling at bottom	Model 204.0/2, 207 with gasoline engine	AR61.20-P-1105EW

1.2	Remove center bottom section of soundproofing	Model 204.0/2, 207 with diesel engine	AR94.30-P-5300EW

2	Raise vehicle at front axle	Model 204, 207

3	Stretch the boots (11) by turning the steering onto left and right lock and check for damage (cracks, chafe marks, intrusions) in the process.	Never check the boots (11) by pressing in or around the ribs. This results in damage to the boots (11). Perfect sealing of the boots (11) is required for proper operation of the rack-and-pinion steering (23).
	Removing
4	Remove track rod (10)		AR46.40-P-0200CW
5	Unscrew lock nut (10f)
6	Open left and right cover (1) on the separation point (arrow)	Model 172 with engine 276
7	Detach inner clamp (11a) and outer clamp (11b) from boot (11)	Installation  : Ensure that the attachment position for the inner clamp (11a) and outer clamp (11b) is correct.	AR46.40-P-7200-01EW
8	Pull off bellows (11)	Installation:  Slide the boot (11) onto the rack-and-pinion steering (23) and position.	AR46.40-P-0400-02CW
	Checking
9	Inspect steering rack and axial joint of inner track rod (12) for signs of corrosion and play	The rack-and-pinion steering (23) must be completely replaced if damaged:↓
		Replace rack-and-pinion steering (23) Model 172	AR46.20-P-0600V
		Model 204, 207	AR46.20-P-0600CW
		If the axial joint is worn, replace inner tie rod (12):↓
		Replace inner tie rod with axial joint (12)	AR46.40-P-0201CW
	Install
10	Install in the reverse order
11	Perform wheel alignment check	Model 204	AR40.20-P-0200CW
