Convenience feature, general
The KFB function allows the side windows and tilting/sliding roof or panoramic sliding sunroof to be opened and closed centrally. The CF function comprises the following partial functions:
- Function sequence for convenience feature via transmitter key
- Function sequence for convenience feature via air recirculation function (without code (494) USA version)
- Function sequence for convenience feature via Keyless-Go (with code (889) Keyless-Go)
Convenience opening via Keyless Go is not possible.
Additional function prerequisites for convenience feature via transmitter key
- Circuit 15C OFF
- Doors closed
Function sequence for convenience feature via transmitter key
When actuating and holding down the lock or unlock button the transmitter key, it transmits an infrared signal to the IR receiver in the front door on the driver side (precise aiming required). The left front door control unit reads in this signal and sends it to the electronic ignition lock control unit via the interior CAN. The electronic ignition lock control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key and enables the required function.
After enabling, the left front door control unit transmits the signal "Comfort opening" or "Comfort closing" to the following control units via the interior CAN according to the request:
- Right front door control unit
- Left rear door control unit (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Right rear door control unit (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Overhead control panel control unit (on model 204.0/2 with code (414) Electric glass tilting/sliding roof)
- Panoramic sliding roof control module (with code (413) Panoramic glass sunroof with top sliding sunroof)
The corresponding control units then actuate the following components to open or close the side windows, depending on the request:
- Left front door power window motor actuated by left front door control unit
- Right front door power window motor actuated by right front door control unit
- Left rear door power window motor (on model 204.0/2/9), actuated by left rear door control unit
- Right rear door power window motor (on model 204.0/2/9), actuated by right rear door control unit
On model 204.0/2 with code (414) Electric glass tilting/sliding roof the overhead control panel control unit actuates the tilting/sliding roof motor (M12m1) to open or close the tilting/sliding roof according to the request.
On vehicles with code (413) Panoramic glass sunroof with top sliding sunroof, the panoramic sliding roof control unit actuates the panoramic sliding sunroof drive unit and the panoramic sliding A98m1 sunroof motor to close or open the panoramic sliding roof and the roller sun blind according to the request.
Where applicable, the sun blinds are opened before opening the panoramic sliding sunroof.
The panoramic sliding sunroof is opened only when requested again. With comfort closing, the roller sun blinds are closed after the panoramic sliding sunroof is closed and a new request is present. For this purpose the panoramic sliding roof control unit actuates the panoramic sliding roof roller sun blind drive unit.
Additional function sequence for convenience feature via air recirculation function (without code (494) USA version)
- Circuit 15 ON
Function sequence for convenience feature via air recirculation function (without code (494) USA version)
When actuating the air recirculation mode (N22/7s2) on the automatic air conditioning control and operating unit for longer than t = 2 s, the function comfort opening or comfort closing is requested. When the air recirculation mode is switched on, the comfort closing function is activated and when switched off, the comfort opening function is activated.
The automatic air conditioning control and operating unit reads in the status of the air recirculation mode button and sends it to the following control units via the interior CAN:
- Left front door control unit
- Right front door control unit
- Left rear door control unit (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Right rear door control unit (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Overhead control panel control unit or panoramic sliding roof control unit
The corresponding control units then actuate the following components to open or close the side windows, depending on the request:
- Left front door power window motor
- Right front door power window motor
- Left rear door power window motor (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Right rear door power window motor (on model 204.0/2/9)
On model 204.0/2 with code (414) Electric glass tilting/sliding roof the overhead control panel control unit actuates the tilting/sliding roof motor to open or close the tilting/sliding roof according to the request.
On vehicles with code (413) Panoramic glass sunroof with top sliding sunroof, the panoramic sliding roof control unit actuates the panoramic sliding sunroof drive unit and the panoramic sliding sunroof motor to close or open the panoramic sliding roof and the roller sun blind according to the request.
During comfort closing with the air recirculation function, the current positions of the side windows, tilting/sliding roof or panoramic roof are stored. During the next comfort opening procedure, these are all moved back to the positions stored previously. The comfort opening function is performed only when comfort closing was accomplished previously.
Additional function prerequisites for convenience feature via Keyless-Go (with code (889) Keyless-Go)
- Circuit 15 OFF
- Transmitter key located outside of vehicle in vicinity (s = 1 m)
Doors closed and vehicle locked
Function sequence for convenience feature via Keyless-Go (with code (889) Keyless-Go)
When the comfort sensor on the KEYLESS GO door handle is actuated, the comfort closing function is requested.
The KEYLESS-GO control unit reads in the status of the KEYLESS-GO door handle actuated and sends the "Comfort closing" request to the following control units via the interior CAN:
- Left front door control unit
- Right front door control unit
- Left rear door control unit (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Right rear door control unit (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Overhead control panel control unit or panoramic sliding roof control unit
Simultaneously, the electronic ignition lock control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key and enables the requested function.
The corresponding control units then actuate the following components to close the side windows:
- Left front door power window motor
- Right front door power window motor
- Left rear door power window motor (on model 204.0/2/9)
- Right rear door power window motor (on model 204.0/2/9)
On model 204.0/2 with code (414) Electric glass tilting/sliding roof the overhead control panel control unit actuates the tilting/sliding roof motor to open or close the tilting/sliding roof.
With comfort closing, the roller sun blinds are closed after the panoramic sliding sunroof is closed and a new request is present. For this purpose the panoramic sliding roof control unit actuates the panoramic sliding roof roller sun blind drive unit.
Convenience closing is interrupted in the following cases:
- when another comfort sensor is touched,
- when the comfort sensor is no longer touched,
- After max. t = 90 s
- If another central locking command is present
If, during comfort closed or max. t = 2 s after the same KEYLESS-GO door handle is pulled, the emergency opening function is activated. In this case, the side windows, the tilting/sliding roof or the panoramic sliding roof are actuated in the opening direction. Actuation is performed for min. t = 2 s or as long as the KEYLESS-GO door handle is pulled, max. for t = 90 s.
