The panoramic sliding roof is subdivided into a front mobile and fixed rear glass section. When opened, the front glass section slides outwards over the fixed rear glass section. Additional sun protection is provided by two electrically operated roller blinds installed in the center bar of the roof.

Function requirements

Circuit 15R or 15 ON
Roller sun blind retracted

Function via roof system switch (N70s1)

The panorama sliding roof is a combination of the sliding roof with pop-up function and pop-up roof. When operated, it first moves into the tilt position. After that the open sliding roof function can be executed.

Operation is by means of the roof switch (N70s1) in the overhead control panel control unit (N70)

The roof system switch (N70s1) can be used to deploy the following functions:

Manual opening/closing of panoramic sliding roof
Automatic opening/closing of panorama sliding roof
Manual tilting/closing of panoramic sliding roof

Convenience feature via transmitter key (A8/1)

The convenience feature function with the subfunctions convenience opening and convenience closing opens or closes the panoramic sliding roof when the "Lock" or "Unlock" button is pressed on the transmitter key (A8/1).

Comfort function via air recirculation (except vehicles as of model year 09/AJ08 with code (494) USA version or code (460) Canada version)

The comfort function via air recirculation with the partial functions comfort opening and comfort closing opens or closes the panoramic sliding roof with the air recirculation switch (N22s2) on the AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22) (except code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning) or the air recirculation switch (N22/7s2) on the comfort AAC control and operating unit (N22/7) (with code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning).

With convenience opening and closing via recirculated air, the windows are also opened and closed.

Shutoff delay control

A shutoff delay control for the drive of the roller sun blind and the panoramic sliding roof is implemented in the overhead control panel control unit (N70). The run-on time starts after c. 15R is "OFF" for 5 minutes, whereby the front doors should not be open and the vehicle should not be locked from the outside. The roller sun blind and the panoramic sliding roof can be operated during this time.
