Remove/install instrument panel upper section - AR68.10-P-1020T

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/Install     
1 Remove instrument cluster   AR54.30-P-6015T
2 Remove paneling from left A-pillar   AR68.30-P-4050T 
3 Unclip left cover (3) with mounting wedge SPECIAL TOOL Fig 3
4 Remove left trim strip (2) from instrument panel.   AR68.10-P-1180T 
5 Remove paneling on right A-pillar   AR68.30-P-4050T 
6 Unclip right cover (7) with mounting wedge SPECIAL TOOL Fig 3
7 Remove right trim strip from instrument panel   AR68.10-P-1180T 
8 Remove front pushbutton control module   AR83.40-P-6350T
9 Remove bolts (8)    
DANGER Risk of fire and explosion caused by machining/treating magnesium components  Keep away from ignition sources and open flames. AS60.00-Z-0006-01R
10 Remove bolts (9) IMPORTANT The cross member below the instrument panel into which the bolts (9) are screwed, consists of a magnesium alloy.  
NOTES Notes on processing magnesium components   AH60.00-P-0023-01R
11 Lift instrument panel upper section (1) and disconnect electrical connectors (4) from air nozzles (5)    
12 With the help of a second person, detach instrument panel upper section (1) from the right side to the rear of the cross member under the instrument panel NOTES On model 211.0 and 211.2 carefully move instrument panel bottom section (1) along right A-pillar. Otherwise the electrical connector on the right front windowbag squib (R12/17) can break.
IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (220a) Parktronic system (PTS), remove only until electrical connector (arrow) on center instrument panel PTS warning display (A44/4) is accessible.
 
13.1 Disconnect electrical connector (arrow) from the center instrument panel PTS warning indicator (A44/4) On vehicles with code (220a) Parktronic system (PTS)
IMPORTANT While disconnecting the electrical connector, the instrument panel upper section (1) must be held by a second person.
 
14 With the help of a second person, detach instrument panel upper section (1) from the left side to the rear from the cross member under the instrument panel and remove out of the vehicle NOTES On model 211.0 and 211.2 carefully move instrument panel bottom section (1) along left A-pillar. Otherwise the electrical connector on the left front window bag squib (R12/16) can break.  
15 Install in the reverse order
