Remove/install dashboard lower section on passenger side - AR68.10-P-1507T

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Move steering wheel as far back and low down as possible    
2 Insert your fingers into gap (arrow A) between covering (7) and instrument cluster (A1), and gently pull covering (7) towards the rear until it disengages from the upper catch hooks (8) NOTES Carefully unclip cover (7), otherwise the upper catch hook (8) can break.  
3 Unclip covering (7) from lower catch hooks (9) by hand and pull out of instrument panel top section (10) toward rear. NOTES Carefully unclip cover (7), otherwise the bottom catch hook (9) can break.  
4 Remove upper paneling from right A-pillar   AR68.30-P-4050T 
5 Remove right side air vent (11)   AR68.10-P-1100T 
6 Remove front AAC control and operating unit and front comfort AAC control and operating unit   AR83.40-P-6350T
7 Remove bolts (12)    
DANGER Risk of fire and explosion caused by machining/treating magnesium components  Keep away from ignition sources and open flames. AS60.00-Z-0006-01R
8 Remove bolts (13) IMPORTANT The crossmember under the instrument panel into which the bolts (13) are screwed, is made of a magnesium alloy.  
NOTES Notes on processing magnesium components   AH60.00-P-0023-01R
9 List instrument panel upper section (10) at right on right NOTES On model 211.0 and 211.2 lift instrument panel upper section (10) carefully. Otherwise there is a risk of cracks and fracture for the electrical connector at the right front windowbag squib (R12/17).  
10 Disconnect electrical connector (arrow B) from the center dashboard PTS warning indicator (A44/4) Only on vehicles with code (220) Parktronic system (PTS)  
11 Support instrument panel upper section (10) with suitable aid and lay down IMPORTANT Support until bolts (4) and electrical connector (5) are accessible.  
12 Remove stowage box IMPORTANT Remove only until bolt (3) is accessible. AR68.20-P-2320T 
13.1 Remove radio On vehicles with code (510) Audio 20 incl. CD changer
or code (511) Audio 50 APS incl. DVD changer
or code (521) MB Audio 50 APS radio USA (without navigation)
or code (523) MB Audio 20 radio
or code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

13.2 Remove COMAND operating, display and controller unit On vehicles with code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer
or code (526) COMAND (without navigation) or code (527) COMAND APS (with navigation)
or code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)

14 Remove cover on right below dashboard   AR68.10-P-1520T 
15 Remove bolts (2)    
16 Unscrew bolt (3)

17 Remove bolts (4) IMPORTANT The crossmember under the dashboard is made of a magnesium alloy.  
NOTES Information on machining/treating magnesium components   AH60.00-P-0023-01R
18 Separate electrical connector (5)    
19 Separate right instrument panel bottom section (1) from air duct (6)    
20 Remove right instrument panel lower section (1) and remove from vehicle    
21 Install in the reverse order
