The COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) encompasses the entertainment, communication and information system in the vehicle. The COMAND operating, display and controller unit encompasses the following component functions:

• Voice control, function
• TV mode
• Navigation mode, function
• Telephone mode, function
• Audio mode, function
• Video mode, function
• Media interface function, with code 518 Media interface
• Electronic Toll Collection System (ETC), function

The displays and menus for the COMAND operating, display and controller unit are generated in the COMAND operating, display and controller unit. Relevant displays are also shown in the instrument cluster (A1).

Function requirements 

• Status "Circuit 30 ON" or "Circuit 15 ON"
• The COMAND operating, display and controller unit is authorized and in perfect working order
• COMAND operating, display and controller unit activated via "ON" button
