General information
The DVD drive of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) supports the playback of video DVDs and video CDs. Here, the video image is shown on the display on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit after the "VIDEO" menu and then the "DVD" submenu have been activated.
The "DVD" submenu can only be selected in vehicles with code 865 TV tuner.
Operating instruction
The system can be operated using the:
- Control buttons on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit
Function requirements
- Status "Circuit 30 ON" or "Circuit 15R ON"
- COMAND operating, display and controller unit activated via "ON" button
- "Video" function key actuated
- Appropriate data storage device present in DVD drive
Function sequence
The DVD player can be used to read out and decode DVD videos. The "DVD menu" and the "Title menu" are stored on the DVD. The audio signals in vehicles with code 810 Sound system are transferred via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier (N40/3) where they are amplified and then processed to match the stored tone settings.
The amplified and processed audio signals are output over direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker group (H4/1)
- Right front door speaker group (H4/2)
- Left rear door speaker group (H4/3)
- Right rear door speaker group (H4/4)
- Bass box speaker (H4/17)
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)
The audio signal for the bass box speaker travels via MOST from the "audio equipment" to the sound system amplifier and from there, via the subwoofer amplifier (N40/9), along direct lines to the bass box speaker.
In vehicles except code 810 Sound system, the audio signals and data are output by the "Audio equipment" on the following speakers via direct lines:
- Left front door speaker group
- Right front door speaker group
- Left rear door speaker group
- Right rear door speaker group
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
The DVD Video picture is available up to a speed of ≤5 km/h. Only acoustic playback remains active while driving. For safety reasons, a warning appears on the display on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit.
