Wiper system (WSA), function - GF82.30-P-0003SK: Notes

MODEL 171.4 

The wiper system (WS) is operated using the combination switch (S4). The wiper speed selected at the combination switch (S4) is transmitted from the steering column module (N80) via the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B) to the driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). The driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) assumes control of the wiper system.

Wiping 

• Touch wipe:

  Push combination switch (S4) to detent point.

• Wiping at slow speed:

  Combination switch (S4) in position "II".

• Wiping at fast speed:

  Combination switch (S4) in position "III".

Intermittent wipe 

For vehicles without code (345) Rain sensor, the windshield is wiped at a fixed interval when the combination switch (S4) is in position "I".

Automatic wiper control 

For vehicles with code (345) Rain sensor, when the combination switch (S4) is in position "I" the windshield is wiped to match the intensity of the rain (automatic control of the intermittent or continuous wipe).

WASH 

the windshield is wiped with additional washing water. Push combination switch (S4) beyond detent point.

Automatic operation of the headlamp cleaning system (HCS [SRA]) (with code (600) Headlamp cleaning system) 

With the low beams switched on, the HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2) is automatically switched on by the driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) after fifteen operations of the windshield washer system for vehicles up to 31.5.07 or, for vehicles as of 1.6.07, after five operations.

Washer nozzle-/washer nozzle hose heater 

In vehicles with code (875) heated windshield washer system the windshield washer system is heated in dependence on the outside temperature.

Wiper start suppression 

In certain situations (e.g. driver door opened while vehicle stationary), the wiper is prevented from moving or an active actuation is interrupted.

Automatic speed reduction 

(Not for code (494) USA version) 

Depending on the vehicle speed, the speed of the wiper is slowed down or the slowest interval is selected. For vehicles with code (345) Rain sensor, there is a switchover to the rain sensor mode.
