Remove/install bottom part of oil pan - AR01.45-P-7555GZA (ML350, ML550, GL450, GL550)

19.1.06 Engine oil Engine 272.967/981 *BF18.00-P-1001-01M 
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1 Remove air filter housing   AR09.10-P-1150GZA
2 Put on engine carrier arm Model 164 AR33.10-P-0100-01GZ
    Model 251 AR33.10-P-0100-01RT
    IMPORTANT Observe manufacturer's assembly specifications and safety information.

3 Drain engine oil, collect if necessary IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace sealing ring.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA01.45-P-1001-01M 
    FLUID SPECIFICATION Engine lubrication *BF18.00-P-1001-01M 
4 Undo bolt (1) for left catalytic converter (2) and bolt (3) for right catalytic converter (4) from exhaust manifold as well as left exhaust bracket (5) and right exhaust bracket (6) Engine 272  
    Model 164:  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA49.10-P-1001-01W 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA49.10-P-1002-01W 
    Model 251:  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA49.10-P-1001-01X 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA49.10-P-1002-01X 
5 Undo bolts (7) of engine mounts (8) on front axle carrier TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 164 *BA22.10-P-1001-03G 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 251 *BA22.10-P-1001-03F 
6 Raise engine    
7 Remove bracket (9) for high-pressure line (10) on oil pan bottom section (11) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA01.45-P-1004-01M 
8 Unscrew bolts (12) for oil pan bottom section (11) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA01.45-P-1003-01M 
9 Loosen oil pan bottom section (11) from oil pan and remove. IMPORTANT If oil pan bottom section (11) cannot be loosened from oil pan, heat oil pan bottom section (11) in the area around sealing surfaces using a hot air gun. Then slip a mounting wedge between sealing surface, to separate oil pan bottom section (11) from oil pan.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Observe application of sealant to oil pan bottom section (11).

CLEANING Clean     
10 Clean sealing surfaces on oil pan bottom section (11) and oil pan NOTES Remove sealant residues. Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper as this can damage the sealing surfaces.  
    Loctite 7200 *BR00.45-Z-1038-04A 
11 Install in the reverse order    
12 Read out fault memory and erase if necessary IMPORTANT Stored faults which may be caused by disconnecting cables or by simulation during test operations, must be erased in the fault memory after completing the work.
STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnostic system		  
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.		 AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
13 Check for leaks with engine running
