Remove, install cylinder head cover - AR01.20-P-5014GZS (ML63 AMG)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury  to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel. No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being pinched or crushed  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, tailgates or sliding roof. Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A

1 Turn key in ignition switch to position "0".    
2 Open engine hood and raise to vertical position Model 164 AR88.40-P-1000GZ
    Model 251 AR88.40-P-1000RT
3 Remove engine trim panel    
4 Remove the partition wall between the wheelhouses Model 251 only AR62.30-P-2400RT
5 Remove air filter housing NOTES Do not tilt front engine cover, but lift upwards vertically otherwise the retaining lugs can break off. AR09.10-P-1150GZS
6 Reduce fuel pressure with the pressure hose via the service valve   AR07.03-P-1460-01TMG
    SPECIAL TOOL Pressure hose Figure
7 Dismount fuel line at fuel distributor (2) IMPORTANT Catch escaping fuel with an absorbent rag!
IMPORTANT Seal connections immediately with stop plugs.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Set of stop plugs Fig 3
8 Remove ignition coils IMPORTANT Unclip retaining clamps (6) from wiring harness (7) at cylinder head covers. AR15.12-P-2003GZS
9 Remove bolt (3), remove purge line (4)    
10 Remove bolt (5) at wiring harness (8) bracket TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA01.30-P-1006-01U 
11 Loosen bolts of the cylinder head cover (1) in the reverse order of the tightening procedure and remove them   AR01.20-P-5014-03AMG
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA01.30-P-1004-01U 
12 Remove cylinder head cover (1) NOTES To avoid damaging sealing surfaces, do not use any tool for prying off between cylinder head cover (1) and cylinder head.  
13 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

14 Conduct engine test run and check the engine for leaks
