  Check and adjust
1 Perform a wheel alignment check   AR40.20-P-0200AC
2 Fasten bubble level in place to check the center position of the steering wheel
3 Undo jam nuts (2) or hose clamps (8) on drag link (1) IMPORTANT On some model designations the clamps (8) are fitted to the drag link (1) instead of the jam nuts (2).
4 Release hose clamps (4) on tie rod (3)
5 Adjust toe IMPORTANT Set track width by twisting the adjusting nut on the tie rod (3). *BE33.25-P-1003-01A
6 Tighten bolts of hose clamps (4) at tie rod (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.40-P-1001-01D
7 Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position.
8 By turning the drag link (1) or adjusting nut on the drag link (1) move the steering wheel to the center position IMPORTANT The front wheels must remain in the straight-ahead position.
IMPORTANT Under some conditions on older vehicles the drag link (1) cannot be twisted, here to adjust the center position of the steering wheel the ball head of the drag link (1) must be removed at the pitman arm, see:↓

10 Measure wheel angle and adjust if necessary IMPORTANT The measurement must not be made when the engine is running, as otherwise the hydraulic limiter will prevent the mechanical limit stop from being reached. Before adjusting the hydraulic limiter make sure that the mechanical limit stop is within the specified tolerances. AR40.20-P-0345AC
11 Check hydraulic limiter of steering gear and adjust if necessary Model 460, 461, 463 with steering 765.5
Model 460, 461 with steering 760.2
IMPORTANT After performing adjustment operations on the drag link (1) the center position of the steering gear may be displaced, for this reason the hydraulic limiter must always be checked.
AR46.25-P-3090F
12 Check straight-line stability during test drive IMPORTANT If the steering wheel is only slightly askance when driving straight ahead, this can be corrected by adjusting the drag link (1).
