1	Move DIRECT SELECT gear selector switch to "N" position

3	Remove bolts (1a, 1b) and rear engine crossmember (1)	Except engine 651 Engine 651	AR22.10-P-1180SX
4	Remove 3 heat shields from vehicle underbody
5	Detach stiffening bridge (2) from vehicle underbody		*BA61.10-P-1001-01G

6	Mark propeller shaft (20)	Apply color markings of the position of the propeller shaft (20) relative to the flanges on the transmission (4) and rear axle center assembly (50) in order to reproduce the plant installation position when installing.
7	Mark propeller shaft intermediate bearing (7)	Apply color markings of position of propeller shaft center support bearing (7) relative to vehicle underbody in order to reproduce the plant installation position when installing.
8	Loosen bolts on propeller shaft center support bearing(s) (7)		AR41.10-P-0050-10SX
		Installation: The bolts must not be tightened until the propeller shaft (20) is firmly mounted on the transmission (4) and rear axle center assembly (50).	AR41.10-P-0050-11SX

		On models 221.154/ 156 the front propeller shaft center support bearing is mounted to the vehicle underbody with 2 bolts and the rear propeller shaft center support bearing is mounted to the vehicle underbody with 4 bolts.
9	Detach front flex disk (20V) from transmission (4)	The flex disk (20V) remains on the propeller shaft (20).	AR41.10-P-0050-02SX
		Installation: Mount propeller shaft (20) on transmission (4).	AR41.10-P-0050-07SX

10	Detach rear flex disk (20H) from rear axle center assembly (50)	The flex disk (20H) remains on the propeller shaft (20).	AR41.10-P-0050-03SX
		Installation: Mount propeller shaft (20) on rear axle center assembly (50).	AR41.10-P-0050-04SX

11	Loosen fitting sleeves in flex disks (20H, 20V)		AR41.10-P-0050-09SX

12	Remove bolts on propeller shaft center support bearing(s) (7) and remove propeller shaft (20) downwards	Secure propeller shaft (20) against falling.
	Checking
13	Check propeller shaft intermediate bearing (7) for wear and damage	If necessary remove/install propeller shaft center support bearing (7) and replace grooved ball bearing.	AR41.10-P-0100SX
14	Check centering sleeves for wear	If necessary replace centering sleeve.	AR41.10-P-0200SX
15	Check flex disks (20H, 20V) Check propeller shaft flex disks for signs of damage and deformation		AP41.10-P-4152SX
16	Install in the reverse order
