Retrofitting side airbag - AN91.60-P-0001A

MODEL 210

Left-hand steering

IMPORTANT Installation of the side airbag in addition to the 3-point safety belts with emergency tensioning retractors already installed as a standard feature increases the protection in the event of a side collision. The airbag/emergency tensioning retractor restraint system is monitored electronically, the malfunction indicator with the symbol "SRS" (supplemental restraint system) is located in the instrument cluster.

The side airbags are installed in the front doors, have a volume of approx. 16 l, and protect primarily the upper body (thorax area) as well as the head area as a result of the advantageous kinematics features. The side airbag is triggered when a side collision is recognized by one of the sensors on the cross member below the front seats. In such cases the sensor sends signals to the airbag control module which triggers the side airbags after a plausibility check.
