Perform chassis alignment - AR40.20-P-0200P

MODEL 203, 209.3/ 4 

MEASURING Measuring, adjusting     
1 Drive vehicle onto test site and secure by applying parking brake IMPORTANT The measuring system must be approved by Mercedes-Benz.  
2 Carry out conditions and tests for chassis alignment   AR40.20-P-0260SX 
3.1 Deactivate easy entry/exit feature Vehicles with memory package (driver's seat, steering column, mirrors) code 275
NOTES Otherwise the driver seat and steering wheel move into a different position if the driver door is opened or closed for example. SPECIAL TOOL The seat may be damaged if the brake pedal winch is installed.
IMPORTANT The system is switched off via the buttons on the steering wheel in the "Comfort" menu of the multifunction display.
 
4 Using the adapter, install the brake pedal retaining tool between the pedal and the driver seat NOTES Protect the brake pedal and driver seat otherwise the brake pedal or driver seat may be damaged.

5.1 Place the transmission in neutral Vehicles with transmission 716.4/6  
5.2 Move selector lever to position "P" Vehicles with transmission 722.6/9  
6 Open window on driver door and close driver door IMPORTANT Preparations for checking steering lock. The vehicle must not be loaded again.  
7 Switch off ignition    
8 Attaching Mercedes-Benz quick-clamping devices Model 203 AR40.20-P-0230A 
    Model 209 AR40.20-P-0230I
9 Fit on measuring heads    
10 Unlock turnplates and sliding platforms    
11 Check vehicle level at front and rear axle with electronic inclinometer, adjust if necessary IMPORTANT Depending on the measurement result the vehicle level must be adjusted at the front and rear axle. AR40.20-P-0301P 
12 Perform initial measurement    
13.1 Checking rear axle camber According to results of initial measurement.
IMPORTANT The camber at the rear axle is not adjustable.

14.1 Adjust rear-axle toe According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0261P 
15.1 Adjust camber and caster at the front axle According to results of initial measurement.  
    Model 203 without 4matic, model 209 AR40.20-P-0263P 
    Model 203 with 4MATIC AR40.20-P-0263PW 
16.1 Adjust front axle toe According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0264P 
17 Perform final measurement    
18 Detach sensors    
19 Detach Mercedes-Benz quick-clamping devices Model 203 AR40.20-P-0230A 
    Model 209 AR40.20-P-0230I
20 Remove brake pedal jack tool with its adapter SPECIAL TOOL Fig 1

21 Drive vehicle off measuring system    
22 Lock turntables and sliding platforms
