  Adjust     
1.1 Switch off easy entry/exit Vehicles with memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) code 275
NOTES Otherwise the driver seat and steering wheel move into a different position if the driver door is opened or closed for example. The upper frame may be damaged when the holding device (055) is installed.
IMPORTANT Switching off takes place via the buttons on the steering wheel in the "comfort" menu of the multifunction display.
 
2 Swivel sun visor to one side and fix steering wheel in center position using retainer (055) NOTES Carefully mount retainer (055), in order to avoid damaging the steering wheel or the headliner.

3 Check center position of steering gear and steering wheel IMPORTANT The steering gear is in the center position when the marking on the cap matches the marking on the control valve housing (arrows).If necessary, offset steering wheel, see: ↓
Remove/install steering wheel
 
    Model 203, 209 AR46.10-P-0100P
    Model 171 AR46.10-P-0100V
4 Install wheel spreader (030) at the front in the direction of travel on the inside of the wheel. IMPORTANT The elastic bearing of the transverse control arm and steering linkage produces a correspondingly large toe value that is reduced to the correct dimension in the ready-to-drive condition.

5 Counterhold tie rod (10) at the hexagon and loosen jam nut (10f)    
6 Rotate the tie rods (10) to adjust the toe angle.   *BE40.20-P-1001-07A 
7 Tighten jam nut (10f) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.40-P-1002-01E 
8 Remove retainer (055) SPECIAL TOOL Fig 5
9 Remove wheel spreader (030) COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS *WH58.30-Z-1005-14A 
10 Check bellows for twisting and align if necessary
