Removing and installing front wheel hub - AR33.20-P-0310A: Notes

15.10.92 Technical modification: Contact spring and washer on front wheel bearing discontinued Step 3  
30.7.95 Technical modification: Front wheel hub dimensions revised Step 5  
REMOVINGINSTALLING Removing, installing     
1 Remove front wheel   AP40.10-P-4050Z
2 Remove and check brake disc   AR42.10-P-0220A
3 Pull off hub cap (9e) SPECIAL TOOL Figure
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Front wheel bearing Model 140 BT33.20-P-9210-01A 
4 Slacken Allen bolt (9i), unscrew clamping nut (9d) and remove tapered roller bearing (9m) IMPORTANTInstallation  : ↓  
    Adjust wheel bearing play. AR33.20-P-0300A 
5 Pull off front wheel hub (9) IMPORTANT If wheel hub is difficult to remove ↓ AR33.20-P-0310-01A

    IMPORTANTInstallation:  Pack front wheel hub with grease, coat radial seal ring and pack space between sealing lip and tapered roller bearing with grease. Push front wheel hub with inner tapered roller bearing and radial seal ring onto kingpin.

REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Front wheel hub dimensions revised Model 202 BT33.20-P-0001-01A
INSPECT Checking     
6 Check brake splash shield (35) If necessary replace  
7 Check kingpin (5a) for discoloration and wear on bearing seats or contact surface of radial seal ring IMPORTANT Discoloration may be caused e.g. by heat generated due to incorrect bearing play settings. If necessary ↓
Replace steering knuckle		  
    Model 140 AR33.25-P-0400A 
    Models 170, 202, 208 AR33.25-P-0400B
    Model 210 except 210.08/28 AR33.25-P-0400C
8 Check front wheel hub Check threaded bores and rotor teeth for damage.  
9 Check tapered roller bearing, bearing races and radial seal ring If necessary ↓ AR33.20-P-0310-02A 
    Disassemble and assemble front wheel hub.
IMPORTANT Model 210.6
On vehicles with extended wheelbase the front wheel hub cannot be disassembled. The entire front wheel hub must be replaced complete on these vehicles.		 AR33.20-P-0320A 
10 Install in the reverse order    
11 Depress brake pedal several times
