Remove/install propeller shaft - AR41.10-P-0050DA: Notes

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
1 Remove exhaust system Engine 104 AR49.10-P-7000D
    Engine 119 LH AR49.10-P-7000E
    Engine 120 AR49.10-P-7000F
    Engine 603 ra49006027000x
2 Detach exhaust shielding plate (105c) from tunnel    
3 Detach exhaust shielding plate (105e) over the center muffler IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace sheet metal nuts.  
4 Detach cover for fuel pump assembly (115c)   AP47.20-P-0780-03DA
5 Remove bracket for safety belt anchorage (127). IMPORTANTInstallation TORQUE SPECIFICATION Attach retaining bracket for seat belt mounting. AR91.40-P-0502-02DA
6 Detach reinforcement bridge (34) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA61.10-P-1001-01B 
7 Detach clamping nut (3) of propeller shaft SPECIAL TOOL Models 140.02/03/1 up to 6/95 and 140.04 up to 3/93,
Models 140.050/051 up to 11/91.		 Figure
    IMPORTANTInstallation TORQUE SPECIFICATION Tighten clamping nut of propeller shaft. AR41.10-P-0050-12DA 
    Observe technical modification. ↓  
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Clamp connection of propeller shaft Converted to flexible connection. BT41.10-P-9110-01DA 
8 Detach bolts (7a) of propeller shaft intermediate bearing IMPORTANT Tighten bolts of propeller shaft intermediate bearing AR41.10-P-0050-13DA 
9 Dismantle front propeller shaft from transmission IMPORTANT Flexible disk remains on propeller shaft.  
    IMPORTANTInstallation TORQUE SPECIFICATION Mount the front propeller shaft on the transmission. AR41.10-P-0050-07DA 
10 Remove driveshaft from final-drive unit. IMPORTANT Flexible disk remains on propeller shaft. AR41.10-P-0050-03DA
    IMPORTANT Mount the rear propeller shaft on the rear axle center assembly.
Observe technical modifications ↓		 AR41.10-P-0050-04DA

REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Universal joint on rear propeller shaft models 140.050/051  BT41.10-P-9111-02DA 
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Rear driveshaft models 140.03/1  BT41.10-P-9111-01DA 
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Rear driveshaft models 140.02/03  BT41.10-P-0001-01A 
11 Loosen fitted sleeves on flexible couplings.   AR41.10-P-0050-09DA 
REFER TO SHOP-MADE TOOLS Drift for loosening fitted sleeves in flexible couplings.   WF58.50-P-4110-01A
12 Unscrew bolts (7a) of propeller shaft intermediate bearing    
13 Detach propeller shaft from centering pin on transmission and at the rear axle, then extract to the rear IMPORTANTInstallation FLUID SPECIFICATION Coat splined shaft profile with MB long-term grease *BF41.10-P-1001-01A 
14 Disconnect front and rear propeller shaft if necessary IMPORTANTInstallation:  Coat the spline shaft profile with Molykote grease. ↓
Specifications for Service Products, sheet 266.2.		  
    Reconnect front and rear sections of propeller shaft. AR41.10-P-0050-05DA 
INSPECT Inspecting     
15 Check flexible couplings, centering sleeves and propeller shaft intermediate bearing for wear if necessary replace ↓  
    Remove/install propeller shaft intermediate bearing and replacing deep-groove ball bearing. AR41.10-P-0100DA 
    Replace centering sleeve. AR41.10-P-0200DA 
16 Install in the reverse order    
NOTESInstallation  Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
