Front Door

WARNING: If the bolts securing the front door are removed without supporting the front door, the front door may fall off and cause injury. When adjusting the front door, support the front door using a jack so that it does not fall off.

NOTE: Adjust the front door using a measurement tool such as a verneir caliper, clearance gauge, or ruler. (See Procedure for Using Measurement Tool .)

Fully close the front door.
Verify that the door-ajar warning light is not illuminated.
Measure each measurement location on the front door and verify that each measured value is within the standard clearance.

Measurement Locations and Standard Clearance
- a: 3.0 - 5.0 mm {0.12-0.19 in}
- b: -1.0 - 1.0 mm {-0.03-0.03 in}
- c: 3.6 - 7.6 mm {0.15-0.29 in}
- d: -2.0- 2.0 mm {-0.078-0.078 in}
- e: 3.5 - 6.5 mm {0.14-0.25 in}
- f: -1.5 - 1.5 mm {-0.059-0.059 in}
- g: -1.8 - 1.8 mm {-0.070-0.070 in}
If the value at each measurement location is not within the specification, loosen the front door hinge installation bolts and adjust the front door by moving it. (See FRONT DOOR HINGE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
If the front door does not open/close smoothly, loosen the door lock striker installation screws and adjust. (See DOOR LOCK STRIKER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
After adjusting the front door, spray or pour water along the perimeter of the door opening using a hose or a high pressure car wash machine, and verify that there is no water leakage.
