Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	INSPECT PASSENGER-SIDE SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR NO. 1 CONNECTOR WARNING: Handling the component parts improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions and the Service Information before handling the air bag system components. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS .) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS .) Switch the ignition to off Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more . Remove the following parts: Front scuff plate (passenger's side) (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Rear scuff plate (passenger's side) (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) B-pillar lower trim (passenger's side) (See B-PILLAR LOWER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Disconnect the passenger-side side air bag sensor No. 1 connector. (See SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR NO. 1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Inspect the passenger-side side air bag sensor No. 1 connection. (Corrosion, damage, and disconnected pins) Is there any malfunction of the passenger-side side air bag sensor No. 1 connector?	Yes	Replace the passenger-side side air bag sensor No. 1 wiring harness.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN SAS CONTROL MODULE AND PASSENGER-SIDE SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR NO. 1 Disconnect all SAS control module connectors. Disconnect passenger-side side air bag sensor No. 1 connectors. Inspect the wiring harnesses between SAS control module connector terminal 1N and passenger-side side air bag sensor No. 1 connector terminal A, and SAS control module connector terminal 1P and passenger-side side air bag sensor No. 1 connector terminal B for the following: Short to body ground Open circuit Short circuit between terminals NOTE: Inspect for continuity while shaking the wiring harness between the SAS control module and passenger-side side air bag sensor No 1. Is the wiring harness normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Replace the wiring harness between the SAS control module and the passenger-side side air bag sensor No. 1.
3	INSPECT THE WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN THE SAS CONTROL MODULE AND PASSENGER-SIDE SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR NO. 1 FOR A SHORT CIRCUIT TO THE POWER SUPPLY Connect the negative battery cable Switch the ignition to ON with SAS control module connector and passenger-side air bag sensor No 1 disconnected Measure the voltage of SAS control module connector terminals 1N and 1P of SAS control module harness side connector NOTE: Measure the voltage while shaking the wiring harness between the SAS control module and passenger-side side air bag sensor No 1 Is the voltage measured?	Yes	Replace the wiring harness between the SAS control module and the passenger-side side air bag sensor No. 1.
3		No	Replace the passenger-side side air bag sensor No. 1, then go to the next step. (See SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR NO. 1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
4	PERFORM DTC INSPECTION Switch the ignition to off Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more Connect the passenger-side side air bag sensor No 1 connector. Connect the SAS control module connectors. Connect the negative battery cable Switch the ignition to ON Clear DTCs using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC .) Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module using the M-MDS (See DTC INSPECTION .) Are DTCs B10FE 11, B10FE 12, B10FE:87 and/or B10FE:96 displayed?	Yes	Replace the SAS control module (See SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
4		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
