Removal [09/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [09/2014 - 11/2017] , or refer to PRECAUTION [11/2017 - 01/2023] , or refer to PRECAUTION [01/2023 - ]

    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [09/2014 - 11/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [11/2017 - ]

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [09/2014 - 11/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [11/2017 - ]

  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [09/2014 - 11/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [11/2017 - 03/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [03/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [09/2020 - 01/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [01/2023 - ]

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [09/2014 - 11/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [11/2017 - 03/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [03/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [09/2020 - 01/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [01/2023 - ]

  7. DISCONNECT HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [09/2014 - 11/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [11/2017 - 03/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [03/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [09/2020 - 01/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [01/2023 - ]

  8. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [09/2014 - 11/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [11/2017 - 03/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [03/2019 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [09/2020 - 01/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [01/2023 - ]

  9. REMOVE SKID CONTROL BUZZER (w/ Pre-collision System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  10. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    When storing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Remove the 4 bolts.

    4. Disengage the 2 pins and clamp to separate the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When separating the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

    5. Disengage the 2 claws to disconnect the DLC3.

      *a Protective Tape
      *b Airbag Connector
      *c Airbag Connector Lock
      *d DLC3
    6. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock.
    7. Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
