Removal [01/2017 - 05/2023]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:
    • After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [01/2017 - 05/2023]

    • When the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [01/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2020 - 05/2023]

    • If the HV battery has been struck or dropped, replace it.
    • When connecting a connector to the HV battery, confirm that the connector is securely connected through the following:

      - Push the connector until a click sound is heard.

      - Visually check and confirm that the connector is securely connected by pulling on it.

    • Make sure to insulate the high-voltage connectors and terminals of the HV battery with insulating tape after removing it.

      If the HV battery stored without insulating the connectors and terminals, electric shock or fire may result.

    • When performing repairs around the HV battery, such as using a tap, do not allow metal shavings to enter the HV battery.
    • Do not touch any high voltage wire harnesses, connectors or parts with bare hands.
    • Hold the areas shown in the illustration and lift the HV battery.

      *1 No. 1 HV Battery Carrier Sheet
    • Do not break the No. 1 HV battery carrier sheet.
    • Do not allow foreign matter, such as grease or oil, to adhere to the bolts or nuts of the HV battery.
    • Do not put your hands into the openings of the HV battery.
    • When removing/installing/moving the HV battery assembly, make sure not to tilt it more than 80°.
    • Do not climb on top of or stand on the HV battery.
    • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the HV battery.
    • If any bolts, nuts or clips are dropped into the HV battery, make sure to remove them.
  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / HV Battery / Data List / Hybrid Battery Temperature 1 to 6.

      Powertrain > HV Battery > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Hybrid Battery Temperature 1
      Hybrid Battery Temperature 2
      Hybrid Battery Temperature 3
      Hybrid Battery Temperature 4
      Hybrid Battery Temperature 5
      Hybrid Battery Temperature 6
    4. Read the Data List.
      NOTE:

      If any of the temperatures listed in "Hybrid Battery Temperature 1 to 6" are 50°C or more, leave the vehicle until the temperature drops to less than 50°C.

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [01/2017 - 01/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [01/2021 - 05/2023]

  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [01/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  5. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  6. REMOVE CONNECTOR COVER ASSEMBLY 

    See step  14

  7. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE 

    See step  15

  8. INSTALL CONNECTOR COVER ASSEMBLY 

    See step  15

  9. DISCONNECT FLOOR UNDER WIRE 
    1. Detach the claw and remove the battery terminal connector cover.

    2. Remove the nut and disconnect the HV floor under wire.

  10. REMOVE DYNAMIC REAR STEERING ECU (w/ Dynamic Rear Steering) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  11. REMOVE SUB-BATTERY MODULE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  12. REMOVE NO. 3 GROUND WIRE

      Remove the bolt and No. 3 ground wire.

  13. REMOVE BRAKE CONTROL POWER SUPPLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  14. REMOVE ACTIVE REAR WING ECU (w/ Active Rear Wing) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  15. REMOVE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ECU 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  16. REMOVE GROUND WIRE

      Remove the 2 bolts, nut and ground wire.

  17. REMOVE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  18. REMOVE AUXILIARY BATTERY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2017 - 05/2023]

  19. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE ROOM WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the 7 connectors.

      *A w/ Dynamic Rear Steering - -
    2. Remove the bolt (A).
    3. Remove the 2 bolts (B).
    4. Remove the 2 bolts (C).
    5. w/ Dynamic Rear Steering:

      Remove the bolt (D).

    6. Remove the 2 nuts and detach the 6 clamps.
    7. Remove the grommet and No. 1 luggage room wire.
  20. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 8 nuts and battery carrier assembly.

  21. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  23. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY

  25. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [01/2017 - 06/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [06/2019 - 04/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [04/2020 - 05/2023]

  26. REMOVE OUTER LAP BELT ANCHOR COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  27. DISCONNECT FRONT OUTER SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  28. REMOVE QUARTER INSIDE TRIM BOARD LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  29. REMOVE REAR INNER NO. 1 SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  30. REMOVE QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY LH

  31. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the front door scuff plate LH.

  32. REMOVE OUTER LAP BELT ANCHOR COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  33. DISCONNECT FRONT OUTER SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the front outer seat belt assembly LH.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  34. REMOVE QUARTER INSIDE TRIM BOARD RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the quarter inside trim board LH.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  35. REMOVE REAR INNER SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the rear No. 1 seat inner belt assembly LH.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  36. REMOVE QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the quarter trim panel assembly LH.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21

  37. REMOVE NO. 1 HYBRID BATTERY INTAKE DUCT 
    1. Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the floor carpet mat.

    2. Remove the 2 clips and No. 1 hybrid battery intake duct.

  38. REMOVE NO. 3 HYBRID BATTERY INTAKE DUCT 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the No. 1 hybrid battery intake duct.

  39. REMOVE NO. 2 HYBRID BATTERY INTAKE DUCT

      Remove the 4 clips and No. 2 hybrid battery intake duct.

  40. REMOVE NO. 4 HYBRID BATTERY INTAKE DUCT

      Remove the 4 clips and No. 4 hybrid battery intake duct.

  41. DISCONNECT FLOOR WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

    1. Detach the 2 claws and Remove the connector cover.

      Disconnect the 2 connectors.

  42. REMOVE NO. 10 HV BATTERY SHIELD PANEL 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

    1. Using the service plug grip, remove the battery cover lock striker.

      HINT: 

      Insert the projection of the service plug grip and turn the button of the battery cover lock striker counterclockwise to release the lock.

    2. Remove the 2 nuts and No. 10 HV battery shield panel.

  43. DISCONNECT FLOOR UNDER WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

    1. Remove the nut and disconnect the 2 connectors.

  44. REMOVE NO. 4 HV BATTERY EXHAUST DUCT 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

      Detach the 2 claws as shown in the illustration.

    2. Remove the No. 4 HV battery exhaust duct.
  45. REMOVE HV BATTERY ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

    1. Remove the 3 bolts, 2 nuts and HV battery assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Do not allow foreign matter, such as grease or oil, to adhere to the bolts of the HV battery.
      • To prevent the wire harness from being caught, make sure to bundle the wire harness using insulating tape or equivalent.
      • Use cardboard or another similar material to protect the HV battery and vehicle body from damage.
      • Since the HV battery is very heavy, 2 people are needed to remove it. When removing the HV battery, be careful not to damage the parts around it.
      • When removing the HV battery from the vehicle, do not allow it to contact the vehicle.
      • When removing/installing/moving the HV battery, make sure not to tilt it more than 80°.
      • Insulate the disconnected terminals or connectors with insulating tape.
      • If the HV battery has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  46. REMOVE HV BATTERY DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the clip and HV battery duct sub-assembly.

  47. REMOVE NO. 9 HV BATTERY SHIELD PANEL 
    WARNING:

      Remove the 4 nuts and No. 9 HV battery shield panel.

  48. REMOVE HV BATTERY BRACKET LH 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

      Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and HV battery bracket LH.

  49. REMOVE HV BATTERY BRACKET RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the HV battery bracket LH.

  50. PERFORM RECOVERY INSPECTION 
    1. Before returning the HV battery, make sure to perform a recovery inspection.
