Removal [05/2019 - ]: Procedure
- PRECAUTION WARNING:

NOTE:After the engine switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal.

- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY
Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ]
- REMOVE SUSPENSION TOWER DAMPER
- w/ Performance Damper:

- REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL

- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE

- REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the air cleaner filter element sub-assembly.
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR

- REMOVE NO. 2 AIR CLEANER HOSE

- REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

- REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

- REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

- DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3
- REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER
- REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY SETTING BOLT
- REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
Refer to REMOVAL [09/2016 - ]
- DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER
- Remove the clamp from the transmission breather hose sub-assembly and No. 5 water by-pass hose.
- Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the oil cooler inlet hose and oil cooler outlet hose from the automatic transaxle assembly.NOTE:
Use a container to catch any fluid which flows out of the oil cooler inlet hose and oil cooler outlet hose.
- Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the transmission oil cooler from the front engine mounting bracket.
- Remove the clamp from the transmission breather hose sub-assembly and No. 5 water by-pass hose.
- DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground cable from the automatic transaxle assembly.
- Detach the 6 wire harness clamps.
- Turn the lock lever and disconnect the connector from the wiring harness connector.
- Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
- Remove the bolt. Then disconnect the 2 clamps and wire harness from the body.
- Disconnect the ECM connector.NOTE:
After disconnecting a connector, make sure that dirt, water and other foreign matter does not contact the connector.
*a Push *b Lock - Raise the lever while pushing the lock on the lever and disconnect the ECM connector.
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground cable from the automatic transaxle assembly.
- DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
- INSTALL ENGINE HANGER

- DISCONNECT RADIATOR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28
- INSTALL ENGINE SUPPORT BRIDGE
- Install SST to the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.
- SST: 09940-10020
*a Support Shaft *b Side Member *c Front Side *d Correct *e Incorrect *f Front Suspension Nut *g Fuse Bolt - - WARNING:Make sure the fuse bolt is not deformed.
NOTE:- Prevent SST from contacting the vehicle body or windshield.
- Lightly shake SST by hand to make sure it is securely installed while performing work.
- Set the support shafts on level surfaces.
- Turn the threaded portion of each support shaft to adjust its height and make the SST sub beams horizontal to the ground.
*a Support Shaft *b Sub Beam *c Side Member *d Threaded Portion - Connect each chain to the division bar with the shackles at the position shown in the illustration.
*1 No. 1 Engine Hanger *2 No. 2 Engine Hanger *a Division Bar *b Shackle *c Chain Block Assembly *d 50 mm (1.97 in.) or more - Connect the shackle of the chain to the No. 1 engine hanger.
- Connect the 2nd link of the chain to the No. 2 engine hanger.
- Make sure the distance between the chain block assembly and division bar is 50 mm (1.97 in.) or more.
- Adjust the position of the chain block assembly so that the chain is perpendicular to the SST main beam and sub beams as shown in the illustration.
*a Chain Block Assembly *b Main Beam *c Sub Beam *d Dimension (A) *e Dimension (B) *f Correct *g Incorrect *h Right to Left Adjustment *i Front to Rear Adjustment - - WARNING:To prevent the engine with automatic transaxle assembly from falling, make sure that the dimension (A) and dimension (B) are equal.
- Tighten the 6 wing bolts and 2 bolts.
Bolt
Torque: 30 N.m (306 kgf/cm, 22 ft.lbf)
- Tighten the chain block assembly until it cannot be moved any further by hand.NOTE:
- When suspending the engine with automatic transaxle assembly, do not tighten the chain block assembly more than 50 N.m (510 kgf/cm, 37 ft.lbf).
- Do not shake the engine with automatic transaxle assembly excessively while it is being suspended.

- Install SST to the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER
Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ]
- SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
- Support the automatic transaxle assembly with a transmission jack.NOTE:
- In order to protect the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly, place attachments on the transmission jack.
- Make sure that the attachments and automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly are centered on the transmission jack.
- To prevent the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly from deforming, do not place any attachments under the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly of the automatic transaxle assembly.
- Secure the automatic transaxle assembly to the transmission jack using a belt, etc. to prevent it from falling.
- Loosen the 9 bolts of the automatic transaxle assembly.NOTE:
Do not remove the bolts.
- Support the automatic transaxle assembly with a transmission jack.
- REMOVE FRONT CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- DISCONNECT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH
- REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
- Slightly tilt the engine assembly with automatic transaxle assembly downward.NOTE:
Make sure that the automatic transaxle is not tilted excessively so that the engine does not contact the vehicle.
- Remove the 9 bolts and automatic transaxle assembly from the engine assembly.NOTE:
To prevent damage to the 2 knock pins, do not pry between the automatic transaxle assembly and engine assembly.
- Slightly tilt the engine assembly with automatic transaxle assembly downward.
- REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
- Remove the torque converter assembly from the automatic transaxle assembly.NOTE:
Remove the torque converter assembly from the input shaft horizontally.
- Remove the torque converter assembly from the automatic transaxle assembly.
- REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
- REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
- REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET
- REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH
- REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET
- REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET
- REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET
- REMOVE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR
- REMOVE OIL COOLER UNION SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE ELBOW
- REMOVE TRANSMISSION CASE PLUG ASSEMBLY
- INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
