Removal [09/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT 

    HINT: 

    All bolts, screws, nuts and clips relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.

  2. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM (w/ Cool Box) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [09/2015 - 08/2020] Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [08/2020 - ]

  3. DISABLE AUTOAWAY / RETURN FUNCTION 
    1. Disable the autoaway / return function by changing the customize parameter. Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [09/2015 - ] .
      WARNING:

      Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the autoaway / return function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.

      HINT: 

      Performing the above operation causes the autoaway / return function to be disabled when the engine switch is turned off.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.
    3. Turn the engine switch off.
  4. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  5. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work. Refer to PRECAUTION [09/2015 - ] .

  6. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2015 - 08/2019] Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2019 - ] .

  7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  8. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  9. REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  10. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Cool Box) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  11. REMOVE COOLING BOX ASSEMBLY (w/ Cool Box) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  12. REMOVE INNER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACKET COVER LH

    1. Remove the clip <A>.

      Detach the clip and remove the inner No. 1 instrument panel bracket cover LH.

    1. Put protective tape around the instrument side panel LH.

      Using a moulding remover A, detach the 6 claws and remove the instrument side panel LH.

  14. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE

    1. Put protective tape around the No. 1 switch hole base.

      Detach the 5 claws.

    3. Disconnect the connectors and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.

    1. Put protective tape around the No. 2 instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.

      Detach the 11 claws.

    3. Disconnect the connectors and remove the No. 2 instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.

    1. Remove the 4 screws.
    2. Disconnect the connectors and remove the combination meter assembly.

    1. Put protective tape around the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly.

      Detach the 6 claws.

    3. Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly.

    1. Remove the 2 screws <B>.

    3. Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.

    1. Remove the cap nut.

      Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and open the hole cover.

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Put protective tape around the lower No. 1 instrument panel finish panel.

      Detach the 2 claws and remove the sensor.

      Detach the 2 claws and disconnect the 2 control cables.

    8. Disconnect the connectors and remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel finish panel.

      Using a clip remover, detach the 5 claws.

    3. Disconnect the connectors and remove the instrument panel box assembly.

      Using a moulding remover A, detach the 6 claws and remove the instrument side panel RH.

    1. Put protective tape around the instrument panel moulding sub-assembly.

      Detach the 20 claws.

    3. Disconnect the connectors and remove the instrument panel moulding sub-assembly.

    1. Detach the 4 claws.
    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.

      Using a moulding remover B, detach the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel box door knob.

      Detach the 2 clips and claw and remove the center No. 1 instrument cluster finish panel.

      Using a moulding remover A, detach the 5 clips and 3 claws.

    3. Disconnect the connectors and remove the No. 1 speaker opening cover assembly.

    1. Using a clip remover, detach the 6 claws.
    2. Disconnect the connectors and remove the center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
  38. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for both assist grip sub-assemblies.

      Put protective tape around the assist grip plug.

      Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the assist grip plug.

      HINT: 

      • Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
      • Use the same procedure for all assist grip plugs.

      Remove the 2 bolts.

      Detach the clip and 3 guides.

    3. Disconnect the connector and remove the front pillar garnish LH.
    4. Protect the curtain shield airbag.

        Thoroughly cover the airbag with a cloth or nylon sheet and fix the ends of the cover with adhesive tape, as shown in the illustration.

        NOTE:

        Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.

    1. Fold back the front floor carpet.
    2. Detach the clip and remove the rear No. 4 air duct.

    1. Pull and slide the lock slider in the direction indicated by the arrow to release the connector lock and disconnect the passenger airbag connector.
      NOTE:

      When handling the passenger airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    2. Disconnect the connector and detach the clamps.
    3. Loosen the bolt and disconnect connector A.
    4. Remove the bolt and disconnect the wire harness.
    5. Remove the 2 passenger airbag installation bolts <E>.

    6. Remove the 2 bolts <C>.
