Removal [08/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (See article. Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2014 - ] ).

    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work (See article. Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2014 - ] ).

  2. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 FLOOR BOARD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  3. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  4. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 FLOOR BOARD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  5. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  6. REMOVE REAR FLOOR BOARD UPPER NO. 3 PLATE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  7. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See article. Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2014 - 08/2015] Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - ] ).

  8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side (See article. Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21 ).

  9. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side (See article. Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22 ).

  10. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side (See article. Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 ).

  11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19

  12. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20

  13. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    When storing the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    1. Check that the power switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Remove the 3 bolts.

    4. Disengage the 6 claws and 2 guides to separate the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.

    5. Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock.

    6. Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
