Installation [04/2013 - 08/2015]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Apply diluted liquid soap to the outside of a new rear suspension member front body mounting cushion.
      NOTE:

      Do not use grease or undiluted liquid soap. Doing so may cause the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion to slip out.

      HINT: 

      A 20% liquid soap and water concentration is recommended.

    2. Temporarily install the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion while confirming the installation direction.
    3. Using SST, install the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion until there is no clearance between the rear suspension member sub-assembly and rear suspension member front body mounting cushion.

      NOTE:

      Apply grease to the threads and tip of the SST center bolt before use.

  2. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  3. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Apply diluted liquid soap to the outside of a new rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion.
      NOTE:

  4. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  5. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR LOWER STOPPER (for LH Side) 
    1. Install the rear suspension member rear lower stopper to the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
  6. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR LOWER STOPPER (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  7. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER (for LH Side) 
    1. Install the rear suspension member rear upper stopper to the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
  8. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  9. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  10. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  11. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER BAR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  12. INSTALL REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  13. INSTALL REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  14. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  15. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  16. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Support the rear suspension member sub-assembly with an engine lifter using 4 attachments or equivalent tools.
      WARNING:

      Make sure to secure the rear suspension member sub-assembly to prevent it from dropping.

      NOTE:
      • Use the attachments to keep the rear suspension member sub-assembly level.
      • The rear suspension member sub-assembly is a heavy component. Make sure that it is supported securely.
    2. Raise the rear suspension member sub-assembly until there is no clearance between the rear suspension member sub-assembly and vehicle body.
      NOTE:

      When raising the rear suspension member sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed on the vehicle.

    3. Install the rear suspension member sub-assembly with the 2 rear suspension member lower stoppers, rear suspension member lower stopper sub-assembly LH, rear suspension member lower stopper sub-assembly RH, 4 bolts (A) and 4 bolts (B).

      Bolt (A) 

      Torque: 127 N.m (1295 kgf/cm, 94 ft.lbf) 

      Bolt (B) 

      Torque: 19 N.m (194 kgf/cm, 14 ft.lbf) 

  17. INSTALL REAR BODY MOUNTING CUSHION SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the rear body mounting cushion sub-assembly LH with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 19 N.m (194 kgf/cm, 14 ft.lbf) 

  18. INSTALL REAR BODY MOUNTING CUSHION SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  19. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY 

    for 2GR-FSE: Refer to INSTALLATION [04/2013 - 10/2017]

    for 4GR-FSE: Refer to INSTALLATION [04/2013 - 08/2015]

  20. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [04/2013 - 10/2017]

  21. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  22. INSTALL REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  23. INSTALL REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  24. CONNECT REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Temporarily install the rear upper control arm assembly LH to the rear axle assembly with the bolt, nut and washer.
      NOTE:

      Because the bolt has its own stopper, do not turn the bolt. Tighten the nut with the bolt secured.

      HINT: 

      Insert the bolt with the threaded end facing the rear of the vehicle.

  25. CONNECT REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  26. CONNECT REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side) 
    1. Temporarily install the rear No. 1 upper control arm assembly to the rear axle assembly with the bolt, nut and washer.
      NOTE:

      Because the bolt has its own stopper, do not turn the bolt. Tighten the nut with the bolt secured.

      HINT: 

      Insert the bolt with the threaded end facing the front of the vehicle.

  27. CONNECT REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  28. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [06/2014 - 10/2016]

  29. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  30. INSTALL REAR LOWER COIL SPRING INSULATOR (for LH Side) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [06/2014 - 10/2016]

  31. INSTALL REAR LOWER COIL SPRING INSULATOR (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  32. INSTALL REAR UPPER COIL SPRING INSULATOR (for LH Side) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [06/2014 - 10/2016]

  33. INSTALL REAR UPPER COIL SPRING INSULATOR (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  34. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [06/2014 - 10/2016]

  35. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  36. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [06/2014 - 10/2016]

  37. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  38. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  39. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  40. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [06/2014 - 10/2016]

  41. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  42. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [06/2014 - 10/2016]

  43. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  44. TEMPORARILY INSTALL TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  45. TEMPORARILY INSTALL TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  46. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the rear suspension member sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 19 N.m (194 kgf/cm, 14 ft.lbf) 

  47. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  48. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY (for LH Side) 

    Refer to REASSEMBLY [04/2013 - 08/2015]

  49. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  50. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG 
    1. Install the 2 parking brake shoe adjusting hole plugs.
  51. INSTALL REAR DISC 
    1. Install the 2 rear discs.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  52. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  53. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  54. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE

  55. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH

  62. INSTALL REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the rear upper control arm assembly LH (rear axle assembly side) with the nut.

      Torque: 190 N.m (1937 kgf/cm, 140 ft.lbf)

      NOTE:

      Because the bolt has its own stopper, do not turn the bolt. Tighten the nut with the bolt secured.

    2. Install the rear speed sensor LH to the rear upper control arm assembly LH with the bolt.

      Torque: 8.5 N.m (87 kgf/cm, 75 in.lbf) 

  63. INSTALL REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  64. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side) 
    1. Install the rear No. 1 upper control arm assembly (rear axle assembly side) with the nut.

      Torque: 150 N.m (1530 kgf/cm, 111 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Because the bolt has its own stopper, do not turn the bolt. Tighten the nut with the bolt secured.

  65. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  76. INSTALL FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE 
    1. Install the front center floor brace with the 6 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 clips.

      Torque: 19 N.m (194 kgf/cm, 14 ft.lbf) 

  77. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 FLOOR BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Full Cover Type) 
    1. Install the rear No. 2 floor board sub-assembly with the 5 clips and 5 clamps.
  78. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 FLOOR BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Full Cover Type) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the rear No. 2 floor board sub-assembly.

  79. INSTALL REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH (for Half Cover Type) 
    1. Install the rear floor side member cover LH with the 3 screws.
  80. INSTALL REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH (for Half Cover Type) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  81. INSTALL REAR WHEEL 

    Torque: 103 N.m (1050 kgf/cm, 76 ft.lbf) 

  82. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT 

    Refer to ADJUSTMENT [04/2013 - 08/2015]

  83. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 

    Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE [04/2013 - 10/2016]
