Removal [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSMISSION 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 10/2016] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2016 - 09/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2020 - ]

  2. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 69 [08/2015 - 10/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 68 [10/2016 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 68 [09/2020 - ]

  3. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 70 [08/2015 - 10/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 69 [10/2016 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 69 [09/2020 - ]

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  5. REMOVE NO. 4 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  6. REMOVE TURBOCHARGER STAY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  7. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  8. REMOVE TRANSMISSION INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and transmission insulator from the automatic transmission assembly.

  9. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *1 Pin

      Remove the clip, pin and floor shift gear shifting rod sub-assembly from the transmission control shaft lever RH.

  10. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

      *1 Breather Plug Hose *2 No. 13 Water By-pass Hose
      *a Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly Connector *b Transmission Wire Connector
      *c Nut *d Claw
    2. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

      HINT: 

      Disengage the claw, pull down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    3. Disengage the clamp to disconnect the breather plug hose from the wire harness.
    4. Disengage the clamp to disconnect the No. 13 water by-pass hose from the wire harness.
    5. Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the wire harness from the automatic transmission assembly.
  11. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET

      Disengage the clamp to disconnect the wire harness.

    2. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the automatic transmission assembly.
  12. DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE

      *1 No. 12 Water By-pass Hose
      *2 No. 13 Water By-pass Hose

      Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 12 water by-pass hose from the transmission oil cooler.

    2. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 13 water by-pass hose from the transmission oil cooler.
  13. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR TUBE

      Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 3 ventilation hose from the No. 1 air tube.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 air tube from the engine assembly.

      *1 No. 1 Air Hose
      *2 Intercooler Assembly

      Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the No. 1 air tube from the No. 1 air hose.

    4. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the No. 1 air tube from the intercooler assembly.
  14. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [08/2015 - 10/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [10/2016 - ]

  15. REMOVE FLYWHEEL SIDE COVER

      Remove the flywheel side cover from the engine assembly.

  16. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY SETTING BOLT 
    1. Turn the crankshaft to gain access to the 6 drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolts and remove each drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolt while holding the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.

      HINT: 

      There will be one black colored drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolt.

  17. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a rope or equivalent, support the automatic transmission assembly at the positions shown in the illustration.

      Support Position - -
      WARNING:
      • Do not raise the automatic transmission assembly more than necessary.
      • Make sure to confirm the center of gravity of the automatic transmission assembly when supporting it.
    2. Remove the 9 bolts and automatic transmission assembly from the engine assembly.

      NOTE:

      To prevent damage to the knock pins, do not pry between the automatic transmission assembly and engine assembly.

  18. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the automatic transmission assembly and the torque converter assembly.

    2. Remove the torque converter assembly from the automatic transmission assembly.
  19. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [08/2015 - 10/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [10/2017 - ]
